Is there a way to have a type of "lights-out" function in the crop tool? Specifically, to turn on a function that dims or entirely blacks out the area of a photo that is outside of the crop window? So when moving the crop window, only the area inside the crop window can be seen.

I'll second this. Very important for us to preview the crop by having the area outside the crop dimmed. Thanks.

 Please do add it. It's one of those small things that you tend to miss from Photoshop. It isn't critical but it does let you see instantly if your planned crop looks as good as you thought it would.
