  1. My mistake. I should have said CMD + scroll (not Option + scroll). I did follow your advice went to Preferences > Tools and was able to turn off the Enable rotation with CMD + scroll wheel and that did the trick. Thank you very much! Bill
  2. Then I wish Option/Scroll to "rotate" the canvas was removed as a "feature" (or was at least deselectable by a user). I find it easy to accidentally rotate the canvas myself. At least I learned from you how to undo it. Bill
  3. Sorry for the late response, but your tip worked. Thank you very much @R C-R @Dan C if "rotation" could be added to the history step (and therefore CMD-Z reversible) in future releases, I'd be grateful. Bill
  4. I really like using the Command/Scroll feature in Affinity Photo to zoom on images. Sometimes I find myself inadvertently holding down Option instead of Command and accidently rotating the canvas. User error. Thus far I have not discovered a way to "undo" the move (other than painstakingly trying to re-rotate the canvas by eye). Command Z doesn't work. Shift Option Scroll doesn't lock one into 90 degree angles. Other than being more careful, are there any tips for undoing an undesired rotation? Thanks, Bill
  5. Amazing work! When I saw this I called in my son who is 16 and is just getting into doing design work in Affinity and Sketchup (the latter through a virtual high school drafting class where he's designing a home) to show him just how cool and photorealistic renderings made with a vector program like Designer could look. Nice job. Bill
  6. I've loved seeing the evolution of the design and been impressed with the incisive feedback you have been getting here. Here is my constructive criticism on the latest design. My main issues at this point are with the banner and the typographical style in the club's name and motto. I agreed with earlier critiques that urged you away from 3D-type beveling and embossing and feel the changes you implemented improved the design. But this computer generated look has crept back in in the textual elements and the use of grads in the banner and IMO it detracts. Not sure about the font used and the characters seem crowded. I wish the grads in the banner text were more 2-D looking (more in keeping with the flags). The motto below also seems awkward typographically. I also feel you have lost the sense of flags being "crosses" (especially the Danish and Finnish flags) relative to the earlier versions (which I prefered in that regard). Nit-pick aside, I think this is awesome work. I'd have kept my mouth shut otherwise. Great work! Bill
  7. I've recommended Affinity Photo to an online friend whose primary use for a pixel editor is to scan rare album covers (in sections) and then merge them together. He's been paying $20 a month for Photoshop because the "Automatic Photomerge" feature makes his life easy . Do we have such a feature in Affinity Photo? Thanks in advance, Bill
  8. I just made the same request (but miss posted the thread in Designer requests), but would also add an "Ignore Text Wrap" option with a right-click. Bill
  9. By either name— [Control Long Click] or [Control Half Click]—I think it would be good to have a contextual menu for "Ignore Text Wraps" there. Bill
  10. Holding down the mouse w/o releasing it is what I call a "half-click." What do you call that? Thanks again for helping me out last night Walt!!! Your tips saved me. Very grateful! Bill
  11. The title says it all. I was saved by forum members last night who pointed me to ways to overcome the Text Wrap tool for captions by either grouping the text with an image or by turning on "Ignore Text Wrap" quality under the "Text Frame" panel, but it sure makes sense to me to include the "Ignore Test Wrap" option under a [Control Half Click] pulldown. Just used Publisher for the first time on a report and love it, BTW. All the best, Bill
  12. Great to Have another option GarryP! This is my first time using Publisher on a project--always a great idea to use a new tool under deadline--and it is cool. But this one little snag was messing up completion of the report. It is awesome to have fellow Affinity users who help out people in a jam, like me. I really appreciate it! Bill
  13. Ah! You asked the right question, Walt. I was NOT in the Publisher persona when I was checking the Studio selections. Thank you so much!!! You've really saved me. A quick test and this appear to be working. I "overslept" a little, but this fix more than compensates for the time. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!! Bill
  14. Hi @GarryP, thanks for reaching out. I'm posting an image that shows (more or less) what I want (I will have more detail than "Picture on the back of a horse," but it makes the point. One problem I have is I don't see how to activate the "Text Frame" panel. I assumed it would "turn on" by View>Studio>Text Frame. However, I'm not seeing Text Frame as an option. I appreciate any help. I'm working on a deadline--must finish tomorrow. It is 3:17 am here and I barely got sleep last night, so I'm off to grab a couple of hours of sleep. I'll check back in later. Thank you! Bill
  15. I'm not sure where that is or how to access it. This will turn off the text wrap for one (or more) text blocks while leaving the body text to wrap? I appreciate any clues of how to use this tool. Bill
  16. I'm doing a report and loving the text wrap feature in Publisher for the main body text. However, I need to add descriptions under the artworks I'm using. This is separate from the body text. The "text wrap" feature is presenting me from putting any sub-text where I need it. Is there an easy way to override the text wrap for this descriptive sub-text. Thanks for any ideas! Bill
  17. Thank you so much for these tools. I have been looking for something to accomplish this task that was this simple. Much appreciated. I will add for anyone who is unsure how to import these tools that if one goes to the "Styles" tab there is a tool selection icon that drops down the option to Import Styles Catagory. Best, Bill
  18. I respectfully disagree, Walt. I've used AP since it was in beta and wasn't aware one could link to the forum through the Help pulldown until you mentioned it. I think there are small percentages that a new user would discover this on their own. The forum links are precisely buried as I described. They are not on the home page, except by clicking through to a submenu and there is is not a "bolded" option, but rather buried under "Company." The forums and tutorials are better featured at the bottom of the individual program pages, but such features should be on the home page IMO. Bill
  19. Good tip. It also works on Mac OS. I still think links to the website should be more prominent. The experience of a new user who has access to all the great tutorials and support from Affinity/Serif and fellow users here on the forum vs one who isn't aware of these resources would be hugely different. Bill
  20. Happy New Year and my apologies for not having the perfect place to post this topic. As a user, I've found this forum to be an invaluable source of information and inspiration over the years. Between the forum and the well-produced tutorials, any issues (learning curves) with transitioning to Affinity products were greatly diminished. I'm a fan. When I've recommended Affinity software to others, I always suggest looking at the forum and the tutorials. But right now the link to the forums seems "buried" on the Serif/Affinity website. There is no link on the homepage and only by clicking through to the menu and then looking under the options for "Company" is it discoverable. I had trouble finding it this morning (and I knew what I was looking for). I'd consider making a link to the forum much more prominent. Best, Bill
  21. There might be a more elegant way to accomplish the feat, but since no one else chimed in I will post how I attacked the photo. These adjustments were applied to a duplicate layer and then masked to contain just the problematic "farmer's tan" portion of the photo. Effects stacked from top to bottom. HSL: Saturation Shift -60% Luminance Shift -10% Brightness/Contrast: B= 44% C =90% Curves: Trickiest to describe. In the bottom left square create a node at about the midpoint of that square and pull diagonally (down and to the right) to darken tattoos. Levels: Black 4% White 97% Gamma 0.737% Color Balance: Shadows C/R 13 M/G 5 Y/B 36, Midrange C/R 12 M/G 15 Y/B -24, Highlights C/R -26 M/G -12 Y/B -24 Mask Layer: I used an Empty Mask Layer and painted it using White in the mask layer (with some feathering). Hope this helps! ETA: Done on Mac, not iPad. Hope all translates. Bill
