Can't Delete Color Swatch from Document Palette

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am having trouble deleting swatches from the palette I made.

I made two document palettes, one for the colors that I color-picked from a reference image and one for colors that I custom-made.

The color-picked palette is the one I made first and it works normally. I am able to delete, rename, and edit the swatches in that palette.

The custom colors palette does not allow me to do those things though. When I right-click, the options are greyed out and I cannot click on them. I also cannot select a color and press the delete key on my keyboard. Nothing happens when I try it.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or something else that is going on.

Also, I accidentally made a global color while working on the custom palette and cannot seem to delete that either.

Thanks,

Alley

Which Affinity version are you using?
There was a similar bug in an early 2.3.0 beta version but that has been fixed in the final retail version 2.3.0.

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

Can you show us a screenshot of your Swatches panel, set to the palette you're working with, and tell us which swatch you can't delete?

As it's a Document Palette, can you share a document with us that contains that Palette, and has the same problem? For example, you could save a copy of your document open the copy, then delete its content (except for the Palettes), save, and share that mostly empty document.

I also cannot delete any Global Color from my Document Palette in my file I'm currently working on. The option to Delete Color in context menu is just greyed out.

I use AD 2.3.0 on Win10.

Interestingly I've tried to create a new file, with new Document palette and new Global colors and I'm able to delete the global colors there.

So it's only this file I'm working on for a long time (i guess originally created in AD1).

I attached that file (with reduced content) here. Maybe the file got corrupted somehow?

It works on Mac as expected so it appears to be a Windows issue.
I still think that it could be connected to the temporary 2.3.0 beta bug where the palettes were not deletable for a change.

I copied the document and included it here as you suggested.

I can't delete any swatches in the palette that I renamed "Can't Delete." I can rename the global color in there, but I don't even want that color to exist so being able to rename it doesn't mean much to me. I cannot rename any of the other colors though.

The swatches in the palette that I renamed "Works Fine" all work as expected. I can rename and delete them. I made this palette first and then the one that doesn't work, if that makes a difference.

Works fine for me on my Mac so maybe some kind of Windows-only issue.

It seems so. I have some similar issues on my Win10 system. The bad thing is that I can't reproduce it, it seems to happen randomly. No matter if it's a new or an old document. But when it happens here, it's affecting global colours on a freshly created document palette.

I can delete or rename within that Swatch on macOS, but not on Windows.
