Hi, I had a Windows crash episode recently, (not related to Affinity Photo) but ever since I can't save my files to my Affinity Folder. Instead I get this error message. I didn't move the original files before the save and no matter what I do (rename etc) it won't save. It will export thankfully but it won't save. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running Version 1.10.6.1665

I'm in Australia so, there's going to be a delay in responses, my apologies 🙂

I deleted the Affinity project folder and created a new one but, the same thing keeps happening, I don't know what to do

Can you try saving the My Documents folder on your PC and see if you get the same error.  Can you also try starting a New Document in Affinity and seeing if your able to save that without the error.

I see what it's doing now. It IS actually saving the file to the Affinity folder after all but then it reports that 'access to the file as lost do I wish to save to a new file' etc.
I didn't have this issue before the last update, a code thing? Happy to send my machine specs if you need them.
BTW. Just want to say that I absolutely love this software, a big fan who recommends it to a lot of people :)
I especially love the one off, for life payment as opposed to the rent-an-app in perpetuum rort. Please pass on my thanks
Cheers

This means for life for only the purchased version(now 2)
When version 3 comes out and you want to upgrade you'll have to pay again but this may take a while though.
If you don't want to upgrade you can use the version 2 programs until either Serif goes bust or the OS  doesn't support it anymore.

Why would V2 quit working if Serif went out of business?

If you needed to register it re-register the application, and Serif had not made provisions for the absence of the registration servers, you would have problems running the applications.

Nowadays most software like E.T. calls home to perform a registration and/or to see if you are eligible to (re)register and also to inform you of possible updates.

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

I think that before Serif terminates the registration servers, they will solve the need for registrations somehow (see the universal key for legacy Plus applications so that their users are not harmed by the end of support).
