Open Publisher pages as Designer artboards

Recommended Posts

Please consider adding the feature to open or export Publisher document as separate artboards in Designer (just like we open PDFs).

Publisher has extremely powerful automation tools, but sometimes it's more convenient to work with artboards rather than pages. Also, Designer provides very powerful Export mode which lacks in Publisher. This way it's easier to tailor exporting of all necessary objects in their appropriate formats.

In ADesigner. To be able to edit the document not page by page as now, but like a light table, all at once, with artboards. At least to export apub like this.

How would these artboards be displayed and/or maintained?

For example, what would happen if the user:

  1. deletes an artboard/spread/page? What would happen to the page flow etc.?
  2. adds an artboard/spread/page? Where would it go in the page order when the document was later opened in Publisher?
  3. moves the artboards/spreads/pages around?
  4. puts one artboard/spread/page inside another artboard? How would Publisher deal with that?

...and there will be many other things.

Or maybe all artboard-related functionality would have to be disabled when editing Publisher documents in this way.

I don’t expect anyone to answer to these questions, they’re just ‘stuff to think about’.

1.it should be cut at page end or remain flowing but this should also be tackled with page setup.(you can (shift+)flow text with artboards right now)
2.hierarchy should be the same when using pages and/or artboards so the bottom up function should be reversed for artboards.
3.hierarchy should be the same so doesn't matter as long as the layers remain in order.
4.convert to clipping mask. or layer or group.

but currently even export as .adesign with artboards would be of great help and provide some very practical uses.

And export in APublisher as PDF and Open/import in ADesigner as Artboards?

I mentioned that in the OP's other thread, and it certainly works. But it loses information, such as Text Styles, Text Flow, and probably more.

PDF loses all frames, text styles, layer names and many other details. Even grouping of text alone is terrible enough to ask for export as .adesign.
