thegary Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 v2.1 designer not saving printer and print info in file, resets every load Every time i reopen a file in 2.1, the printer information has been reset to a different printer. walt.farrell Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Neither V1 nor V2 saves that information with an Affinity file, in my testing. And unlike Export, the Print operation does not show any entries in the document History, and do not prompt to reSave after you print. The applications use the last printer that the application used. (Actually, I suspect they use the last printer used by any application, but I have not tested that yet. All I can say at this point is that if I print using V1 and then switch to V2 to print, the dialog comes up with the same printer that V1 used.) But it doesn't, and from my experiments it never has, so it's not anything new with 2.1. It would be appropriate for a Feature Request. walt.farrell Posted May 31, 2023 Posted May 31, 2023 Also, I'll note that users are already annoyed at having to Save again after they do an Export, because Exporting updates the document. They would probably also be annoyed if Print started saving info, and causing additional prompts when closing the document. (And some of my other applications that save the Print info in the document do that, too. I've had to get used to the sequence Save, Print, Close... Oops, have to Save again, or say not to.) Photoshop and illustrator both save the printer used with the printer settings used. This saves alot of time on repeat prints and also what it was last printed on. APublisher should also do this correctly, because it writes the information about the printing execution to the metadata, but then does not save it to the file.
