Spinning beach ball in fonts menu

A. few times now I've noticed a freeze when mousing over different fonts in the fonts menu. It takes about 5-10 seconds to clear but happens repeatedly.

I've got a suspicion that it could be font-related: scanning past half a dozen Noto variants (Noto Sans Armenian etc) seems to trigger the behavior.

It would help if you could please advise which OS and app are you using?

Is this an issue occuring on the Betas only? If not, then your post would be better suited to the relevant question/bug section of the v2 forum. I can move your post to the correct place if needed.

I put all my system info in my signature for exactly this reason 👍...but forgot to add OS info: 10.15.7

Thank you for the OS information, yes you have posted this in the beta forum. 

Could you advise which app and build you are using? Also if this is an issue that only occurs on a beta build and not in version 2.0.4?

This was in 2.1.0 (1790); will check in new update and v2...

Newest version of the beta. Note that the screen recording doesn't show the beach ball...but you can see the frozen font menu and my bouncing cursor...

Haven't tested on v2 yet.

Im still seeing this in 2.1.1 main - It seems to be related to having an external harddrive connected; when Im scrolling the fonts list the hard drive spins up and Afinity freezes while it does this, even though the HD has nothing to do with fonts. It spins down again when the fonts menu is closed.

I have also occasionally just started seeing this freezing/pausing/spinning wheel using Designer v2.1.1.

It happens when text is selected and then mouse up and down the font list to view the different fonts.

I don't have any external hard drives attached.

It also happens to me when I open the font menu. I think it only happens when I scroll past all the Noto Sans fonts that I got from Google Fonts. I deleted them and it no longer crashes.

Same issue here. 
Every time selecting different fonts (maybe 4-5) while text is selected in Affinity Designer (also 2.5.2), the beach ball shows up and a total freeze occurs. Happened on previous versions as well and before and after clean install Mac.
