Mac OS X Monterey 12.6.3 Affinity Designer 2.0.4

This is so annoying. I have to set the same color fill again and again each time I draw a new form with the pen tool. I mean thats one of the most basic functions, that when I change something, fill or brush or line, the next thing I draw continues with the last setting I used. It is LOGIC or not?

Why does this not work anymore?

I can even hit the top button for overtaking the actual setting as a standard and STILL the next thing comes up empty.

Answer: The keyword being "empty" I am guessing that you have the Use Fill checkbox (in the Context Toolbar) unchecked.

You are right. There is indeed a checkbox i never saw - AND NO ONE NEEDS. Its working after I activated it. Thanks!

But this is exactly what I am always talking about - unnecessarily complicating things! There is a fill and empty function in the color palette where it belongs. This second and independent one is only good for confusions. So it is still a mind bug that needs to be corrected.

Answer:

Thanks for your report @Thomahawk, this is expected behaviour with the Pen Tool when the Use Fill checkbox has not been enabled - though I certainly understand you may find this to be unnecessary.

I'd recommend posting a Feedback suggestion thread for our dev team, to consider changing this tools behaviour in the future :)

OK, here it is.

Affinity: There are so many missing important features like color Swatch flexibility which are really needed to make Affinity into a professional software. Instead you are losing resources creating unnecessary complicating stuff like this check box.

I use the checkbox. Please don't remove it.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I agree.

@Thomahawk: For me, at least, the setting is remembered across documents and across application restarts. So, if you always want Fill used, just check the box and you should be fine thereafter. But there are definitely times I want Fill to be used, and times I don't, and it's easiest to manage that with the checkbox rather than having to make changes via the Color Panel or via the Fill well in the Context Toolbar.
