Hello there

I've just upgraded from Affinity Photo ver. 1 to Affinity Photo 2 and hit a small snag with the Clone tool.

When using the Clone tool in Affinity ver. 1 on my Mac and following the initial Option click to select the area I wanted to use in the Clone process  - the brush changed to a transparent circle (the actual size of the bush) and remained clear / empty as I moved it to the area I wanted to paint over.  However, in Affinity 2 and after I've made the Option click,  the circle carries a ghost image of area I've just selected and  In the image below, I've made the Option click on the grassed hillside to the right of the lifebelt and moved the brush onto the sky to better reveal the Overlay

I recall that when using Photoshop, I was able to turn off this feature by choosing to not show 'Overlay' and having just gone back into Affinity 1 to check . . . I don't see any sign of the overlay in the Clone brush circle nor do I recall any option to turn it off.

As a matter of preference, I'd choose not to see the overlay and any  advice would be welcome.

Thanks in advance

Best wishes

Rod

Didn't you post this same question a couple of hours ago, though with a slightly better title?

Hello Walt

Many thanks for your prompt response, and apologies for the previous misleading wording, my mistake.  I’m quite new to the world of forums and unsure where I’d find the answer to that other query.

Thanks again

Hi Rod!

Usually, you should be notified about any answers to your questions by e-mail (if you activated that) and the small bell symbol on top right of the forum site. If you click the bell, it should show you where you find the answers. You can also view your last activities on the forum site, by clicking on the icon of your profile, on top right of the forum site too.

Hello again

Thanks for the very useful info., I hadn't realised that I could have Email notifications - that's a big help and I'll set that up.

After a bit of a search, I've just found the other answer.

I really appreciate your prompt responses and the useful info.

Best wishes

better title

Maybe a moderator could correct the title to Clone Tool - apparently it's just a confusion of the words Crop and Clone.
