JimmyJack
How does one hide the marching ants while keeping the selection active? (don't necessarily always want/need the extra steps of making a mask. The ants can be distracting)
R C-R
As I understand it you can't, but this is supposed to be added "real soon now." crabtrem
Not sure of the specifics you are talking too. But once you go to refine mask, your display changes, and you have a full range of options there. There is a good tutorial about using the refine tool to select a flock of birds using the refine option in one of the earlier tutorials. If you are add say an adjustment, once you select the adjustment to add, you can do a CMD D to get rid of the marching ants while still only working in that selection. Of course these are only my observations and opinions. I am no expert. Just a amateur, trying to help.
manu schwendener
> "real soon now." source? ;)all I know is that it's on the list of common feature requests https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10410-common-feature-requests-index Oval 1 Quote manuschwendener.ch
William Cartwright
I wish it was Command-H, as that is pretty engrained in muscle-memory. Bill
R C-R
manu schwendener, "real soon now" was meant to be slightly sarcastic, a reference to the vague promises many software companies make about when some feature will finally make it into their product. William, the problem with Command-H for hiding the selection is it long ago became the OS X standard shortcut for hiding the current application. Adobe is one of the few software makers that does not follow that standard. For those of us whose workflow involves frequently hiding & showing multiple apps, it could be very annoying to have to remember which shortcut does what in which app. Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.2 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.

I woud love to see the feature and a keyboard short-cut enabled. If I need to re-train my brain, I'm willing. Bill
francklazare
So, I'm a newbie here, and trying to separate my brain from the Adobe App I have been been using forever. But how come there's no way to hide the marching ants in Affinity Photo? You can't precisely see what you're doing if it's covered by the ants. Or am I missing something in the work flow?
