Aitor Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Hello. I would like to ask why does the application need to record my computer screen? At first it seems to me a serious privacy problem, but I want to ask in case I am wrong. Thank you so much. Quote
Hangman Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Hi @Aitor and welcome to the forums... Apple introduced a new security feature in MacOS Catalina (10.15) requiring explicit consent before allowing apps to record information from the computer screen. Because of this, you might get a message asking you to grant applications permission to record the screen. To change the setting on a Mac, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Screen Recording and check the box by Affinity Designer. If you are unable to check the box, click on the lock icon at the bottom of the panel first to allow changes. Old Bruce Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 I am guessing this came up when you wanted to use the colour picker. It is wanting to "Record" the colour values of the area you clicked on. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
mardymarvin Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 you dont need to allow it to use the colour picker as I have turned it off, I also find it strange it even asks as adobe does not ask when you select its equvilant tool. Quote

And that should be the only time that permission is relevant to the Affinity applications. carl123 and Aitor 2 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. I don't think it's Affinity (or Adobe) that is requesting the permission, it depends on settings in the operating system or installed security software.
