Seems like if I save the current Pixel Brush Settings I’ve got I end up with about 30 copies - and then the app crashed last time this happened (after I noticed about 30 copies of each of the two last brushes I saved and figured out what was going on there)

Wouldn’t be so bad if there was a quick way to delete them all!

Save them from where (that is, what were you doing to change the brush settings)?

So I think it's doing just what it's supposed to do in making new copies.

(And I'm not near the iPad right now to experiment.)

Note: If you were intending to Edit the existing brush, rather than creating a new one, you can long-press on it in the Brushes studio to get the Edit option.

I’d rather create a new one and leave the existing brush saved as the default - I don’t however want 30 COPIES!

In other words, you only tapped Save once?

Bingo!

If I’d tapped Save 30 times then I think that might have explained the 30 copies - but no I just tap on it once and the app farts out 30 - then crashes sometimes (once so far after this bug)

Posted

In any case, I only get 1 copy if I only Save once. If I tap Save multiple times, I get multiple copies. Note that making some changes, Saving, clicking OK to get back to the workspace, trying the brush, clicking More again, refining the changes, and tapping Save, gives 2 copies. Test some more, make more changes, and Save, and you have 3 copies. And this is all as documented.

If you don't want that workflow, then Duplicate the brush from the Brushes panel (left-swipe), then Edit from the Brushes panel (another left-swipe), and you only have one brush copy.

But, if you're sure tat you only tapped Save once in the entire editing session, then you shouldn't have gotten multiple copies.

I’ll let you know if it does it again - but when two columns of 30 identical copies appeared I figured out what was going on - the question is why and how to stop it doing this

In the meantime if anyone knows a quick way to delete multiple brushes then I’d love to know, because otherwise I have to swipe left and then tap twice for each one

I say 30 but I just counted them properly and I’ve got 31 copies of the first brush I just saved and then it created 33 of the second one

The only way I have been able to do anything like that is to tap save multiple times or I wonder if is possible for that to auto repeat. Are you using your finger, apple pencil, trackpad or mouse?

Again a screen recording at your end would be useful.

Screen recording of it happening? Easy to create if you havn’t done so before and very informative compared to ping pong posts.

I don’t think I’ve ever initiated a screen recording via the Settings app! I just swipe down from the top right-hand corner of the screen to display the Control Centre, and then tap on the Screen Recording icon there.

Many people don’t know how to get the screen recording into control centre in the first place. Yes only way to initiate is from pull down control centre, if you have it installed.

Apple Pencil 2 - iPad Air 5th G

Can only put up a screen recording if it does while it’s recording (I tried) It’s done this three times so far and I’ve just had to manually delete about 60 copies again..

Posted

Happened again this morning - app was adding extra copies when saving a brush setting - and this time I managed to record it

This time I experienced the bug using the Vector Brush and it only added a few extra copies (as opposed to getting about 30 with the Pixel Brush previously) - but you can see it doing it. I’m only tapping the Save button once and you can see it coming up with a message to say it had saved a brush
