firstdefence Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Does this file export correctly in any other format on your system? If so, try exporting to PDF or TIFF or SVG and then opening one of those formats in Affinity Designer v1 and seeing if it exports to png 8bit dithered correctly. NotMyFault Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 As you are using a palletized export, i would recommend to add a rectangle in white as bottom layer, or use the matting option in export. For me it exports correctly on iPad with V1. You may try to deactivate HW acceleration in Preferences. The parts are missing ONLY when using "Selection Only" in the export dialogue. So the OP can work around by adapting the artboards size to the content or using "Selection Area". I just want to export it without the white background. Only the character. But doesn't work when I choose "Selection Only". I already try to export to another format as you suggested. It works but it is just like JPEG files, where the white Background still appears. 19 minutes ago, NotMyFault said: As you are using a palletized export, i would recommend to add a rectangle in white as bottom layer, or use the matting option in export. When you export it does the white background also there? I don't want the white background. My HW acceleration is off 16 minutes ago, joe_l said: Nothing to do with it. I use "Selection Only" in the export dialogue. I tried using the Selection Area but it still show the white background. Thanks for replying Quote
firstdefence Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Go to File > Document setup... Colour Tab and check Transparent Background That should give you a transparent background for export. may23 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... firstdefence Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Standard png is your best option with transparency included and a smallish file size, albeit almost 3 times the size of a palletised export with approximate file sizes for none palletised being 480kb vs 178kb for palletised. You could use online or offline image compress apps and you will be able to get the file size down considerably if that is needed. Hangman Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 This looks like a bug and it's the same in V2... Pixel values that are showing as transparent on the 8-bit version have identical colour values to other areas that are not shown as transparent, e.g., the yellow t-shirt, dress and legs... As others have mentioned, exporting as a 24 bit PNG works as expected and doesn't demonstrate the issue... If it is essential for the file to remain in 8 bit then you could edit in Photo (if you have access to Photo), make an alpha selection from the channels palette and load it as a pixel selection to a new pixel layer and then give it a white fill and place this layer behind your graphic. That way you will be able to successfully export it as an 8 bit PNG with background transparency. This is how you could achieve this (Note: I'm using V2 for the screen recording but the process is identical in V1)... obviously if file size is the key issue select the layer in the Layers Panel first and use Selection Only when exporting to reduce the exported dimensions of the exported file to that of just the graphic... kids error.mp4 NotMyFault and may23 2 Quote Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 Affinity Designer 2.6.2 (3213) Beta | Affinity Photo 2.6.2 (3213) Beta | Affinity Publisher 2.6.2 (3213) Beta MacBook Pro M3 Max, 36 GB Unified Memory, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1, Magic Mouse HP ENVY x360, 8 GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, Windows 10 Home, Logitech Mouse
