Large file crashes

I just added some pages to your file without problems. All three master pages.

The difference is I don't have the images the file links to. There may be a hint to a solution.

If you change the name of the folder the images are in, so Publisher doesn't find them, does Publisher still crash?

Even without the linked images I can crash your document by adding one page at some places

Can you be more specific as to what you are doing precisely when it crashes for you?

I believe this is the known bug with linked documents because opening this file without the resources available and then opening the Resource Manager will immediately crash it.

To work around it for now:

  1. Open the document. If you're unable to open it then rename the folders containing the linked resources so Publisher can't find them and then open it again, without accepting the prompt to relink. Do not open the Resource Manager.
  2. Delete all linked documents such as pdf, afdesign, svg, and eps. Save under a new name.
  3. Now try opening the Resource Manager. If it doesn't crash you're good, if it crashes, you didn't get everything so re-open and look for more to delete.
  4. Once you've gotten it to where it's not crashing then you can re-place the documents. To avoid the crash until Serif fixes this you should embed the linked documents.

Good luck!

Hi @RHYSOXON,

Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here.

I have opened your document here in the latest update (2.0.4) and I'm unable to replicate any crashing behaviour - either when opening the Resource Manager or when adding a page.

Can you please confirm for me, are you still seeing these crashes in the latest version, or has this issue been resolved? :)

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!
