The style of the note

Recommended Posts

v. 2.0.3.1688.
Hello everyone,

footnote-color.afpub
1. Create a document that contains the paragraph styles Corps and Bas de page depending on the style Base, and the character style couleur-vert.
2. Write a bit of text in Corps paragraph style.
3. Select some words using the couleur-vert character style.
4. Add a footnote using the Bas de page paragraph style.
The note will use the character style.styyle-font.thumb.jpg.b106486a4d90fc19ffe5fc3ddcc099a5.jpg

Sorry, but it does not reproduce for me, using your document. I can see that your existing footnote has a Paragraph text style with a Character text style applied, but if I delete that footnote and create another one (whether for a normal word or one with your Character style, it comes out as I expect (not highlighted).

Close the modified document and go back to the original document and add new notes.

I've duplicated this bug on macOS.

I think what's happening is that when I format body text with the couleur-vert character style, that becomes the default character style for new text frames. When I insert a footnote, the new footnote frame is set to the current default character style.

This doesn't seem to happen with individual character attributes. If I make a word red and then click elsewhere and then insert a note, the note is not red. It's just if I applied a character style to something before creating the footnote. Odd.

The only workaround is to reset the format of that footnote to No Style character style.

Hi, I was able to do this also.

This seems to occur after creating a new style before inserting a note.

To fix this:

Place the cursor in the footnote that you want to fix then go to the (burger) menu of the "Bas de page" style and select

You can also single click the style before typing the footnote as an option.

The formatting in the footnotes section will go back to the custom style from then on until you create another new style in the document.
This will enable you to keep your custom style for that footnote.

I have found that this bug appears when a character style is created just before the first footnote (hence the description in the initial message), but not only. I first noticed it when I took an old file and created a new, somewhat similar book. Note also that this malfunction does not always appear: it seems to me, but I am not sure, that it may not appear when the new character style is not used on a page.

The workaround is of course obvious, but it is time consuming, and there is a risk of forgetting (out of 200 notes I had forgotten 2). The important thing here is that this important bug is fixed.
