I'm using AD V1 text boxes. Is there a way to make a 'soft' Return to create a new line of text rather than 'Retiurn' which produces my paragraph spacing?

If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed!

Sorry Guys but Shift+Enter does not work in AD V1. Is this a bug?

Is it shown as the shortcut for you in the menu? Text > Insert Character > Line Break? If not, does the shortcut shown there work?

Does using the menu work?

And, what do you mean by "does not work"? What does it do, if anything?

Shift + Return (as opposed to Enter) applies a soft return for me in both Frame Text and Artistic Text in Affinity Designer 1.10.6 on macOS Ventura. So I don't believe it's a bug.

My laptop keyboard doesn't have an Enter key: if you have a full-size keyboard with an Enter key to the right of the number pad, then the shortcut may not work.

Have you tried holding down Shift and pressing the main Return key while Shift is still held down?

On a typical Mac keyboard pressing Shift together with the main keyboard's layout Return/Enter key should usually do it (as far as you've not reassigned that key combo).

Look under "Preferences -> Keyboard shortcuts" if you maybe have redefined that key combo or if it is setup at all there.

What menu are you referring to Walt?

By does not work I mean when I press SHIFT + ENTER it only gives me a paragraph break and not a line break.

What sort of "paragraph spacing" are you using?

For me the defaults in a pair of Art Text Text Frames are the same for a new line and a new paragraph. There is a Shift + Return on the left and a Return on the Right. You can see it in the Designer version one Document that I opened in Publisher with the Show Special Characters turned on.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

That sounds like you do not have the cursor properly positioned within a Text object.

Here's a short screen recording, showing Shift-Return for FrameText, where pressing the Shift-Return key combo in this recording is then shown up as an filled oval only ...

For Artistic Text, it's as @Old Bruce already said, aka it doesn't make any difference to using a usual Return here then!
