Paste curved apostrophe and accented letter from Affinity Publisher into Microsoft Word

Affinity Publisher 2.0.3.1688.

Hello everyone,

1. In Affinity Publisher, after any letter, type an apostrophe (’). It should become curved.
2. Type an accented letter (e.g. à) and then some other letters (e.g. bc).
3. Copy the text into Word. A space has been added after the accented letter.

I tested unicode letters U+00E1 to U+00FC.

For what it is worth the same thing happens here on Mac OS in Apple's Pages and Text Edit apps. But if I copy from Publisher and paste into BBEdit then copy again and paste into Pages or Text Edit the space/gap is gone.

I duplicated this on macOS. The bug isn't is a bit less specific.

• Type one of a number of certain characters followed by an accented character followed by another character, copy it to the clipboard, and paste it into any app. I used TextEdit.
• For example, ≤éa will paste as ≤é a into TextEdit - it will paste correctly into Affinity
• Some of the characters typed before the accented character that will cause the bug include typographic single and double quotes (but not straight quotes), ellipsis, ≤, ≥ and ≠ (but not < or >), any other accented character (éôa), pi, inverted exclamation, etc.

It is the same if you copy into Notepad++ and then from there into Word, but then you lose the styles and variations in width and type of space.

I can confirm I've been able to replicate this issue here and I'm getting it logged with our developers now - I can also confirm the behaviour described by Mike when using other characters that aren't single typographic quotes and I have included this with the dev report - thank you all

Exporting a text from Affinity Publisher to Word is a very important step in the process of checking a text before publishing it.

• For example, it allows you to check with the comparison tool with the original text in Word that the changes required by DTP in Affinity Publisher do not distort the author's thinking.
• It also allows you to check the spelling and wording of additions and deletions made in Affinity Publisher with third-party extensions in Word (these extensions are also available in Adobe Indesign and QuarkXPress), which are real correction tools unlike what the Affinity suite offers.

The issue "Typographic apostrophe OR certain other characters followed by an accented character pastes incorrectly into external apps" (REF: AFB-7168) has now been fixed by the developers.
This fix is included in build 2.1.0.1706 (or later) which is already available as a customer beta and will be included in the next release.

This bug was very annoying, as it forced many conversions of the wrong strings when passing a text from Publisher to Word. Thank you for your help.
