Some filters greyed out after developing RAW image files

Recommended Posts

Hi, Since updating to Affinity PHOTO version 2.03, when I "develop" any RAW image file some filters are subsequently greyed out and unusable, especially including the entire Nik Collection, irrespective of the camera type or make they that produced the images. I have not experienced this problem with either V1 or V.2.00. Have I checked or unchecked a setting that is causing this? I have spent ages trying to correct it.

I look forward to a reply.

Are you working with 32, 16 or 8 bit images? I think they need to be 16 or 8 bit. The filters, such as NIK don't support 32 bit.

The default Output setting for RAW development in Photo 2, if you're using the Serif Labs RAW engine, is either an embedded or a linked RAW layer. You'll find that setting on the Context Toolbar the first time you go into the Develop Persona with a RAW image file.

Most (all?) filters require a Pixel layer, not a RAW layer. So, you'll need to choose to Output a Pixel layer, or you'll need to Rasterize the RAW layer, if you want to use the filters.

Live filters will work with RAW layers without the need for them to be Rasterised

FWIW, same for Adjustments & FX, since all 3 are non-destructive. It is only the destructive filters that require rasterizing the layer.
