images are missing

New Version - New Bugs Version 2.0 has many bugs, unlike the previous version. They sometimes make work impossible!

Example: I placed a logo as an eps. Shortly thereafter it is missing! When you open the file again, it's there again. Gone again soon! It doesn't matter whether it's a picture or a picture frame. Whether linked or embedded. How are you supposed to design a professional layout if you can't be sure that the elements won't disappear??? Is there a way to open version 2 file in version 1???

I'm not sure that's entirely correct. There were quite a few bugs reported in the previous version as well! 🙄

Sadly I find I have to agree. I have come across several instances in my work where graphics and photos (especially with layers?) just vanish or appear unstable, or seem to be implicated as the major cause of PDF output failing. Frankly there's not much that's new or exciting for me in V2 compared to V1 and the V2  bugginess is really becoming a deal breaker. I have had to revert to V1 to salvage work and I guess I'm staying there until we get some point upgrades that will hopefully make the Affinity suite suitable for a professional workflow.

Hi @wsilmenau,

Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here.

I'm not seeing the same behaviour here currently in V2.0.3 - can you please confirm for me if this is still occurring for you? :)

I am seeing the same issue. It is still happening in V2.0.3 and V2.0.4.

Specifically - If I open a Version 1 affinity file that has images in it, the images disappear as soon as the zoom level is changed. They may reappear as soon as I zoom out. They images also don't output into a pdf.

They are not deleted from the file, just somehow not showing or being recognised. They do continue to show in the layers panel.

Hi @StuartTJ,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums & sorry to hear you're having trouble!

Can you please open your file in Affinity V2, then navigate to Window > Resource Manager - can you confirm for me the 'Status' of the files here that aren't being exported to PDF?

Many thanks in advance :)

No problem at all, thanks for confirming that for me!

I'd like to request a copy of this document in order to investigate further, as I'm not certain why these images are disappearing when zooming currently.

Can you please upload a copy of your .afpub file to the below link for me?

Once uploaded, please reply here to let me know - many thanks once again :)

Many thanks for providing this for me and my apologies for the delayed response!

I can confirm I've been able to replicate this issue here, there appears to be an issue with the way that V2 is handling your .bmp files, which I'm logging with our developers now.

In the meantime, I collected all images from your document, then using Affinity V1 converted these .bmp files to .png files, then replaced the images in your file with these converted images.

Having made the above changes, your file is now displaying correctly for me at all zoom levels - I will be sure to send this file back to your email through Dropbox now.

This certainly isn't an expected workflow, simply it may help to workaround the issue in the meantime & we offer our sincerest apologies for any inconveniences caused.

I hope this helps :)
