  1. GeirSol. I so agree with your point 3 - "Last chosen character-style is selected for new entry. Unwanted." One of my main projects is setting a local community newsletter, and there are always a variety of stories and items which need differing frames, headings, column numbers etc. I really HATE "the next" frame, text style, being the same as the previous one... In Indesign I have a default text frame which is always the same. APub could at least offer the option of maintaining a defined default
  2. For me this file crashes publisher V2 and ALSO crashes V1. It works fine in Indesign V5 and Illustrator V6 and seems perfectly normal in Acrobat 11. It also opens perfectly as an image file in LibreOffice Draw latest version (7. something from memory).
  3. I don't know if it helps anybody, but I've posted a while back about a similar issue when I tried to export a publisher doc in PDF which contained Designer graphics with layers. Layers seemed to defeat the PDF driver. Documents without layers seem more exportable.
  4. Ah.... you have nailed it. I wondered why advertisment sizes seemed odd in my village newsletter and artwork originated from Illustrator always needed a bit of a push or pull to fit the master frames. Does Designer do the same thing in the same way?
  5. I don't know if this will help, but I had similar issues. In at least two documents I found the "solution" was to fix some graphic files - anything with layers in it seemed to send the PDF generator into a spin. Flattening the files and converting to "simpler" formats (PSD to JPG for example) seemed to work. I don't know if this has had some fix in 2.03 - V2 is so unstable for me that I've had to revert to V1 for most work.
  6. Sadly I find I have to agree. I have come across several instances in my work where graphics and photos (especially with layers?) just vanish or appear unstable, or seem to be implicated as the major cause of PDF output failing. Frankly there's not much that's new or exciting for me in V2 compared to V1 and the V2 bugginess is really becoming a deal breaker. I have had to revert to V1 to salvage work and I guess I'm staying there until we get some point upgrades that will hopefully make the Affinity suite suitable for a professional workflow.
  7. Just found this thead, and if it helps .... big shout - GREP - YES PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!
  8. @D. Bakel As a matter of interest for me and the issues I've experienced, did your non-working PSD have layers?
  9. OK so I've done a few more tests with my rogue file 20page A5 booklet I mentioned before. It won't export to PDF - using any of the presets. It goes into the endless loop, and if I attempt to export anyway it doesn't work and I get the unhelpful message - "An error has occurred" - it might help if we were given a small hint at what that might be!, BUT I can get a pdf by using the "Print" option ctrl P, or from the File...print.. option. Setting the printer option to Adobe PDF which comes up as an option. I can set all of the commercial printer's options, bleed, colour bars, crop marks etc. Press OK and I get a PDF. with all of that included, it has garbled some footer text and left out one of the original PSD files (but included the other one!). Just weird.
  10. Similar problem with failing export to PDF, or excessively long time to render preview - I gave up after 10 minutes on a 20 page A5 booklet Win 11. This was a "previously constructed in V1" file, which in turn (about a couple of years ago) was converted from Indesign via IDML, and has worked perfectly until now. After several tests I abandoned V2 and reconstructed the document in V1 from scratch and exported PDFs from that with no problem. This morning I made a copy of the working V1 file, opened it in V2 and *that* version exported perfectly. Puzzling. Some issues that might shed light - the non-working file had a couple of large hi res files, one of which was a PSD from Photoshop CS6 (v old version of PS). The working file had these replaced with smaller sized jpg and png - all constructed in Photoshop. Also another graphic in the non exporting file was an original PDF edited in Designer 2 with a contrast and brightness adjustment layer, which I replaced in the working version with a reconstructed image done in Acrobat 9.
  11. Just found it myself - been searching for a couple of days now and missed it. Thanks for your help. It's a simple process, just a bit opaque if you don't know where to look.
  12. What Steve Beeston said. How can users transfer user settings from one installation on one computer to another on Windows?
