Vella Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 I was in the Affinity Designer - iPad - Assets disappeared after a lockup in the middle of trying to install an asset and whole thing locked up. I had to exit Affinity completely and reboot my iPad. When I went back into Affinity Designer all assets were gone. It also will not let me install anything in any panel - Styles, Brushes or Assets. This happened to another person I work with, and she had to completely wipe her iPad to get it to work again. I am in the process of this now. And this is time neither one of us have at the moment to do this. I have also had lots of issues with my iPad Affinity Publisher. It corrupted an entire kids book I was working on and it practically had to be redone to find all the issues it caused. It does not always save correctly either. Quote
Staff EmT Posted November 30, 2022 Staff Posted November 30, 2022 Hi @Vella Which Asset pack were you installing when this occurred? Were you installing it via the My Account screen? If so do you see any error message in this screen? Could you try a Force restart of your iPad (https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/145410-faq-how-to-force-restart-your-ipad/) Then try installing the pack again. If the issue persists then can you try the following: Close all Affinity apps, then launch Designer 2 and whilst the splash screen shows, double tap on the screen to open the Clear User Data screen. With this showing, please untick Reset User Defaults, then tick Reset Assets and finally select Reset. Please let me know if that works or not Quote Contact Support | List of V2 FAQ's | Affinity Online Help | Affinity Video Tutorials | Beta Software Forums | Bug Reporting Guidance
Vella Posted January 9, 2023 Author Posted January 9, 2023 Sorry I did not receive a notification if this! So I had to completely reinstall my whole iPad and remove version 1 for it to work! I have reinstalled everything so I could not try it this way! Quote
CP16 Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 This just happened to me, as well. I was trying to add an asset subcategory to one of my custom categories, and AD crashed. I retarted the app and all my assets are gone. I rebooted my iPad, and they’re still gone. I tried importing one, and it doesn’t appear. Quote

As soon as the Splash Screen appears, quickly double-tap it with one finger. Deselect everything, and select Reset Assets. Perform the reset, and when the application starts you can reinstall your Assets. (Anything that is factory installed, or comes from the Affinity Store via the Account function, can reinstall automatically.) I did this, but it didn’t help I get an error trying to download any of the factory installed or Affinity Store assets. I have it set to automatically download, but it shows a red X. When I click the X, I see the error attached. I suspect I have to delete the app and reinstall, but that’s not a viable solution if this happens again. I have tons of brushes, color palettes, styles, and assets that I need to reinstall each time. Not to mention that I create my assets on my iPad 99% of the time… are they lost, or is there a file I can still access to copy them to my Mac? Quote

You should export the Assets that you create, which will give you .afassets files that you can use for backup or transfer to another system. I have no idea why the download via Account is failing. It resolved itself after a few days. I’ve been using the app daily, and one time, I noticed that the “Simple, Flat Icons” assets were there, then I started importing my other saved assets and the ones available in the My Account page. Here’s what had happened when it crashed and all my assets disappeared: 1) I was trying to create a new subcategory in one of my custom asset categories. 2) After that, I saw the error in the screenshot I posted above when I tried to re-download assets from the My Account screen. 3) If I tried to import assets, it would seem like it imported (no errors), but then would not actually have done anything. The asset menu remained blank. Here’s a video where I did that a few days ago when the problem was still happening. FullSizeRender.MOV Quote
