Affinity Publisher 2 iPad: cannot export document to PDF (fairly important!)

I’ve been trying for over an hour to export a 46 page document to PDF and the app just endlessly sits on “Generating Export…” (see screengrab).  Tried adjusting all sorts of settings, but nothing works. The same document was exported from iWork in seconds. The document size is just over 600mb but I have been waiting more than 15 mins to do an export on a new iPad Pro M2 with 2TB.

Tried a 2 page PDF and that exports quickly without issue, so it only seems to be larger docs which have a problem?

Also, the Home Screen regularly has the files greyed out with spinning icon, requiring me to keep quitting the app and restarting (see screengrab).  These issues, combined with font problems from other post, suggest the app is too buggy for me to use at present, sadly.

I'd try exporting ranges of pages. It could be something on one page throwing the whole thing off.

You will need to resize your document, as it's exceeding the PDF maximum size.

At 600DPI, you could only export 24x24inches. (which is already a ridiculous size for anything, let alone an iPad). Your document is 37x28in.

You would not need a brochure that big, especially with the low resolution images you have

Hello.
Same problem here: impossible to export whole doc in PDF (either Web type, or PDF-X 4 with full print options)

(I’ve tried exporting doc with new name and reopen it, etc)

Doc: 10 pages A5 300 PPP with few texts, one to 3 photos by page.

- no ressources errors (everything integrated).

- able to export page by page (choosing export active page only) with both preselections.

- when the whole doc is selected during export, the wheel is turning eternally

⚠️ I’ve been able to export whole doc (perhaps prior to update to more recent iPADOS version?).

Supposition (beside Affinity Publisher): my iPad is nearly fully filled…. RAM or memory problem?

Machine: iPad Pro 12,9 500Go - second generation - last os.

P.S. other export bugs (or personal errors?):

- when choosing to export with hypertext links, it doesn’t work on exported pdf (numerical version). Would it be, perhaps, that my texts layers with hyperlinks (to pages, to URL) are put in other layers - each text with link alone in another layer of image’s box frame (sorry for names, I’m working in French.

Regards.

I'm having the same issue...exporting an 11 page afpub v2 file that worked well in v1.  The v2 version doesn't load a preview...shows 25% complete but just spins forever.  If I go ahead and try to export it, I get  'An error occurred while exporting to:' message.  No error code, so I have no way of knowing what the problem might be.

I ran preflight and the only issues there were non-proportional scaling errors.  I checked to make sure my document size was correct...it was.  I only have one master page and that matches the document size so that is not a problem.

I was able to choose the PDF (for Print) option, but the hyperlinks don't work on that version.

Help!  Otherwise, I'll have to go back to v1 and ask for a refund of what I spent on the upgrade!!

Have the same problem. It's on a 1 terabyte 16gb ram 12,9 inch 2021 iPad.

400 dpi, 170x240 mm, 115 pages color graphic novel. So, drawings, photos, text. Lots of material.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

If you have read the posts above yours, you will have seen that Serif staff have been asking users to create a new topic, and include their document. So that is the best thing for you to do.
