jochoalions Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Previous Studio Presets have been wiped out in both Designer and Publisher V2. One has to re-create them anew. walt.farrell Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Yes, that's true. Apparently they didn't include that in the version migration function. drkanukie Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 This is just not smart product design and after 6 years of development- studio presets should absolutely be stored in your Affinity cloud account. I have 6 apps across Windows & Mac and have to do each one and each persona by hand again that's like 1 - 2 hours work which is the cost of the suite licence to me. There is version migration for example all my v1 add-ons are in v2. Jokan 1 Quote
drkanukie Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Going to hope the windows preset xml files work on Mac. Quote

Intuos5 Posted November 10, 2022 Posted November 10, 2022 Yeah, the migration also isn't bringing the toolbar settings, tool settings or general settings (e.g. mouse wheel zoom) over. Lot's of work to redo all those for the various personas and programs of the entire suite... Though @drkanukie you used to be able to copy and paste a workspace from one program to the other (e.g. use Photo's workspace to create Designer's pixel workspace). But given they have different studios available to them, I wouldn't rely on it too much. Quote
drkanukie Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 I tried copy and paste from v1 to V2 no dice. Going to try Windows v2 which too over an hour to setup to Mac V2. It's just a big hassle even if it does work. Especially as they have cloud account infrastructure and in app login. Product excellence is about taking the pain out of steps not adding it. The add-on migration was delightful the workspace presets is not. Quote

With the broken compatibility with V1 and V2 files this is a complete retrograde step for interworking. I think not maintaining file compatibility is a terrible business practice. Also Apples hardware become obsolete even if it's still working, I now have one laptop and two tablets I can't really use anymore, I can run modern Windows on 10 year old hardware no problem. Quote
