I create a new canvas and go to Place. I select multiple images and they are loaded. They can be seen on the LH panel. I try to place the 1st image. I draw it out and when I release the mouse Affinity closes. I ty the procedure again but the same thing happens. Therefore I have Open the files individually.

The quickest thing to check is to switch off (if enabled) Hardware Acceleration via Edit > Preferences > Performance

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

OK, then you will have to check to see if you have any known KB numbers that have been causing issues lately

Hi @RedSnapper,

When you see the Place Images thumbnails on the left hand side Photo is waiting for you to place them on the canvas, to do this on the canvas press and hold the mouse button and move the mouse to set the places area size and when you release the mouse button the image will be placed and it will be removed from the place images list.

I AM USING WINDOWS 10.

Did you check to see if you had any of those windows updates installed? I didn't think I did, until I tried to replicate an issue, and the app (Designer) crashed. Check to see if which and when updates were installed.

Now to make matters worse, with Win10, we do not have the built in ability to hide updates once we uninstall. So what happens is that a short time later the update is reinstalled by MS. The only workaround I've found is to pause and set the time for checking for updates back as far as it allows.

Ehh, the tool in the faq is also applicable for windows 10.

I seen that, but when I looked there was no link to download it. Other than that it talked about using command line. Not worth it to me.

You can go to Advanced Options and it provides a longer time period. I have mine set to pause until 11/23/2022.
