Into which Affinity app are you trying to open them with? How specifically are you trying to import them?

That link says that Docx files are importable, but it does not explain how to import docx files. How do you import docx files? That link provides step by step guide for IDML files. but steps for docx, it only says it is possible. Where in the menu system for affinity publisher, is the option to import docx? I will say copy and paste is NOT the same thing as importing the docx, they are 2 completely different things.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

You can use File > Place with .docx, .idml, or .txt files.

1. Create a document with 1 page.
2. Draw a Text Frame on the page. (Or draw it on a Master Page applied to the page.)
3. Click in the Text Frame, then from the menu use File > Place and choose the file you want to import.
4. The file will probably overflow the frame. There will be a red eye icon on the lower right of the frame. Shift+Click on it to create additional duplicate pages and flow the text onto them automatically.

@walt.farrell Thanks for the steps. Those helped. When following the steps, after going to file and then place, I do not see docx. I see all kinds of image and text based files, and a way to import PDFs, but nothing for docx. Any other ideas?

If you're on Windows, type *.docx in the filename field and press enter.

Or (and especially if you're on a Mac), deselect the Text Frame, and choose the Place Image Tool. Once you've selected the file, click in the Text Frame.

Also, of course, you need to be in Publisher, and in the Publisher Persona.

THat worked thanks so much. The import is wonky, but I can re-arrange things. Last Question, I was looking in the online help, and is there a way to have a border on a text frame? I cannot find anything as of yet.

View > Studio > Text Frame.
