ssthakran Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Hi, I am on a Trial Version of Infinity Publisher , Photo and Designer .... My Question is how do I stop Horizontal Scroll in Affinity Publisher - Because when I scroll up and down it ( The Pages )just wobble all over the screen and this can be pretty annoying - I just want to be able to go to the next page .... Any Help would be appreciated as this Point alone will effect my Buying Decision .... Warm Regards Sanjay Quote
iconoclast Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Hi ssthakran! You could doubleklick on the page you want to go to in the Pages panel. Another option is to hold the middle mouse key and drag the working space with the mouse. Quote
ssthakran Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 Thankyou so much for Replying but I do not have a middle mouse button as i use a Apple Magic Mouse .... I tried the Page Click and it does not work as the x Axis just seems to have a Mind of its own .... Very Annoying and especially when you have a 200 page Catalog and need top just scroll without going onto a slick iced up road in winter with bald tyres .... Quote
iconoclast Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Page click should normally work. Don't know why it doesn't in your case. Another suggestion: If you press the space bar, the cursor should change to the Hand symbol temporarily, and you should be able to drag the workspace then with the mouse - like with the middle mouse key. Edit: In my Windows version there are also small buttons on the bottom left of the user interface, to scroll from side to side. Quote
GarryP Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 Just out of interest, what do you mean by “wobble all over the screen”. Would you be able to show us a video of this happening? Quote

Perhaps a small wireless mouse is a solution to not use a trackpad, I detest trackpads from the first laptop I had. I totally agree with you, trackpads drive me crazy. But I wouldn't buy a small mouse, because they are very unwieldy. I had one and hated it. I use a normal wireless mouse now, on my laptop. The problem is, that you need some sort of table to work on with the mouse. Quote

Alltough it had a big keyboard with numpad,so had much room to work on. And yes I also have a normal mouse for it. That's a good idea. I'm planing to build one on my own, customized to my needs. But I'm planing it as a base for my Laptop, so that I am still able to use the keyboard. With space for a Mouse pad on the right side (doesn't need much space) and possibly also a shelf (or so) for an external DVD-/Harddisc-Drive. But of course it shouldn't become too huge and heavy. Still thinking about it. But we are off topic now. Quote

ssthakran Posted April 8, 2022 Author Posted April 8, 2022 Affinity Publisher may be cheaper but if I cannot pick up a phone and get help with a live person then its not for me .... I would rather go with iNDesign and pay that money .... Its a simple software solution that can be sorted out by Affinity but I do not think that Customer Care is One of their strong poins .... emmrecs01 1 Quote
Staff DWright Posted April 8, 2022 Staff Posted April 8, 2022 Hi @ssthakran, With the magic mouse it acts like a track pad so if you move your finger to the side as you scroll down it will act like a Pan command and the Publisher Windows will wobble, unfortunately there is no option to disable this feature on the mouse Quote
MikeTO Posted April 8, 2022 Posted April 8, 2022 I had a Magic Mouse but its form-over-function design grated on me. I replaced it with a Logitech MX Anywhere 3 for Mac mouse which has a nice old fashioned scroll wheel that can be used notched or untouched. Works great with Affinity and is the best mouse I've ever used. Because of that, I quit using an Apple Magic Mouse long ago. 7 hours ago, ssthakran said: I tried the Page Click and it does not work as the x Axis just seems to have a Mind of its own .... Did you try double-clicking on a page in the Pages Studio panel? That might be hard to do because of the above mentioned problem with the Magic Mouse (or with some trackpads) but if you are very careful not to let your finger move when you double-click, it should change the view to that page centered in the document window. Another way to do the same thing in a multi-page Affinity document is to use the page navigator at the bottom of the workspace window just to the left of the Status bar. It has triangle shaped buttons that can be used to step through the pages of the document, switch between document & master pages, & an editable text field showing which page is displayed. There are also items on the View > Zoom menu that can be used, like Zoom to Width or Zoom to Fit, that can be used to center the current page in the workspace.
