Congratulations on the latest stable version of APub.  This is great software which I use intensively every day.

However, I've found a bug - text is being corrupted when file is exported as PDF - digital high quality

File was exported as Print PDF and no problems - see screenshots.

When I export the same file as PDF (digital - high quality) - odd characters in the text are corrupted - see screenshots.

The running head error is not in all running heads through the 212 page book - correct and wrong running heads occur within the same chapter (it suddenly corrects).

Some of the wrong characters are ordinary keyboard characters (eg. "f"),  others are from the Apple Symbols palette.

After further checking, the same error occurs in the Beta 1282.

Suggestions for a work around - to create a pdf with working hyperlinks, which are needed to create the ebook edition?

Thanks,

Dennison

Update - these errors are now occurring with ALL versions of this file - even from yesterday's version from Time Machine and with ALL APub versions - 1.10.4 and Beta 1282 and Beta 1214.

I updated from Big Sur to Monterey two days ago BUT then after that exported a pdf for print which shows none of the errors.

So at the moment, the file is un-exportable.

Certainly - just done it.  Thank you.

Update:

running head - deleted all affected space and em dash and reentered.  Problem has done away.

text - seems to only affect "ff"  (as in 'muffler') etc.

sent the afpub file to a friend who uses Windows and she reports the exported pdf is correct and not affected.

However, I did export this file two days ago, after installing Monterey, without issue.

Thank you for your quick response.

Sounds like an issue with the ligatures.

Are you viewing the PDF in Affinity, or have you tried in some other application? If viewing in Affinity, it can help to change the Export settings. Under More, in Embed Fonts, disable Subset Fonts.

Alternatively, there are Typography options in (I think) the Character panel, and in Text Styles, to en- or disable Standard Ligatures. Disabling them would help.

Or as a final approach, if all else fails, you could change Embed Fonts in the Export options to "Text as Curves". But I would avoid that if possible.

Weirdly, my reply seems to have vanished.

Turning off Subset Fonts made NO change

However, turning off the ALL Ligature settings in a Text Style DID correct the "ff" error

However, characters from the Macbook Symbols - in this case a µ - was still incorrect in the pdf.

Thank you for the feedback and suggestions

No, it's in the parallel topic:
