3joern Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 Hi, does anyone have an idea where the § comes from and how I can hide it. A logo I got as a PDF has this in all the text boxes as info and it drives me crazy. Quote

Hi @3joernMain Menu > Text > untick Show Special Characters Quote Why relying on your users to report errors is the dumbest thing you’ll ever do
Alfred Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 The § is a section mark. Like other special characters, its visibility can currently only be switched on or off in Affinity Publisher. 3joern Posted November 23, 2021 Author Posted November 23, 2021 ok, and why is it visible in Affinity Designer when I only can hide it in Publisher? 😵 Quote
Alfred Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 When you save the file after enabling ‘Show Special Characters’ in Publisher, it’s saved with the special characters displayed, so when you reopen it in any Affinity app those characters will still be displayed. I’m sure you and I are not the only users who would like to be able to switch off their visibility in Designer and Photo. I can't imagine why anyone would want to, they could just re-enable it again if they need it when they reopen the file. It should be just a view option within Publisher not saved with the file itself. 3joern Posted November 23, 2021 Author Posted November 23, 2021 the 10 year old logo pdf I got 100% never face the publisher. If I just open the file, the special characters is not visible, it only shows, when I start work in the text box, but after that, it shows all the time. Alfred 1 Quote
Old Bruce Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I think that there is a bug which causes Affinity Designer to be stuck with Show Special Characters = On for all the various files it opens until it is restarted and has no special-characters-turned-on file open. 3joern and Alfred 2 Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.
