Silvia
Although this was reported earlier this year as a bug, I still don't see a fix in version 10.1.1 (using Big Sur). Is it just me, or a solution is still in the works? ThanksEDIT. The report of June mentioned was regarding Quick mask, which I mistakenly quoted above. The missing transparent background I'm referring to is with selections and Refine, where I can select, white, black and white, black, but not transparent. Wosven
You should have reported this in the previous thread, if it's already marked as a bug.
Silvia
What previous thread? The thread of June 2021? How do I know it is still a bug? Version 10.0.1 is newer than that, isn't it?

Version 10.0.1 is newer than that, isn't it? Yes the thread of 2021, which I guess is the one you mentioned in your first post. If it is a bug from whenever in 2021 and it is not fixed for you now then it is still a bug. You know where the first post is so mention it there. Silvia
June thread is specific about Quick Mask not being able to use neither black, black and white, or transparent background, just red. Mine is regarding Refine and inability to use Transparent only. MacOS 11.6, 15" MBP 2018, AP 1.10.
Staff Dan C Posted October 18, 2021 Staff Share Posted October 18, 2021 Hi @Silvia, Can you please post the steps (aka 'recipe') for this bug here for me? I understand you are reporting an issue that may already be logged, but I need the exact steps you're taking within Affinity to confirm this. Many thanks in advance
Silvia
Sure. 1. Make Selection with Selection Brush Tool. 2. Click on Refine on context tool bar. 3. On Preview, defaulting to Overlay, change to white, black, black and white, all work. 4. Change Preview to Transparent, doesn't work. I see the full picture with the selection. See screen shots. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
Staff Dan C Posted October 21, 2021 Staff Share Posted October 21, 2021 Thanks for your screenshot provided! It appears as though this is happening as you don't have one of your Layers selected in the Layers Studio. If you select the bottom layer, and then enter the Refine dialog, you should find this works as expected Chris B
Silvia
Thanks, Dan, maybe I don't understand your instructions. In both screen shots the background layer was selected even when it doesn't show on my screen shot; I just happened to move my cursor (see attached highlighted layer). I'm attaching a screen capture, which is probably better to demonstrate my issue, which happens regardless of the photo/project I'm working on. 1_TJ_.mp4 2_TJ_.mp4
Staff Dan C Posted October 22, 2021 Staff Share Posted October 22, 2021 Many thanks for the screen recordings provided! I can confirm I've been able to reproduce the issue you're seeing using these - it appears as though when 'All Layers' is selected on the Context Toolbar for the Selection Brush tool, the Transparent overlay in Refine fails to work correctly. I've logged this with our developers now as a bug, but unticking this option on the context toolbar should resolve this issue for you temporarily. I hope this helps Silvia
Silvia
I'll uncheck All Layers as a temp solution then. Many thanks for your help, Dan. Dan C
