KatherynLiza Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 (edited) I cant even select the layers, I cant even move layers, I cant even go back in history. I cant even apply crops, I have restarted my computer even started a new project Is there a way I can download older version affinity. The box has nothing in and moves nothing Edited August 21, 2021 by KatherynLiza Quote
Julia04 Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 I also noticed that after the update it became impossible to work in affinity. I am waiting for an update with bug fixes, at the moment it is impossible to use the program. Crashes every 7-10 layers KatherynLiza 1 Quote
PeteMacca Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Is Hardware Acceleration turned on? This can cause a raft of problems if your graphics drivers are old or incompatible. Try turning it off: Edit >> Preferences >> Performance. Also check to see if there is any third-party software or services which might cause a problem. There's a post at the top of the Windows Bug page which lists the offenders. KatherynLiza and RichardMH 2 Quote
KatherynLiza Posted August 21, 2021 Author Posted August 21, 2021 But I did have hardware acceleration turned on (I didnt even know Affinity Photo had that turn on/as an option). Quote
Subclavius Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 In your last post, did you mean HA was turned on or off? The screen clip shows it as disabled but your statement indicates it as active. Just as an experiment, you could try increasing the RAM usage limit as high as it will allow Quote
Komatös Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Hello @KatherynLiza, hello @Julia04 I recommend that you update the graphics card driver. If, contrary to expectations, this does not bring any improvement, it could also be due to damaged or outdated Windows system components. To rule this out, you should run the Windows tool sfc. And this is how it works: Right-click on the Windows Start menu icon. Select CMD (Administrator) from the drop-down menu. Now type sfc /scannow in the new window and confirm with Enter. KatherynLiza Posted August 21, 2021 Author Posted August 21, 2021 @SubclaviusI changed the HA off right before I took the screenshot. @Komatös I already have latest graphics card driver Quote
RichardMH Posted August 22, 2021 Posted August 22, 2021 I use the studio driver as its in theory more stable. Also try a clean install from the custom option in GeForce Experience. But with OpenCL acceleration off there shouldn't be a problem. It helps them if you can put up the Log.txt file. %APPDATA%\Affinity\Photo\1.0\Log.txt Quote
KatherynLiza Posted August 22, 2021 Author Posted August 22, 2021 It looks like disabling hardware acceleration, solved the problem. I just wanted to wait a bit before posting, to see if Photo would crash again. Chris B 1 Quote

After the update, reactivate the hardware acceleration as a test. If errors occur again, you will have to work without hardware acceleration for the time being.
