Ranpo Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Not sure if this is intentional change with the update. I work with a lot of linked images as my images are frequently tweaked. In the past via resource manager I would be able to relink an image to another file and it remained linked. Now when I select 'replace' an image, it changes it to embedded instead of a link so I have to go in twice to change it to a link for everytime. I believe there used to be a checkbox in the select image box but that appears to have disappeared now too. Is there a way for this to always default to being a linked image? I also have image placement policy set to prefer linked, but I noticed after the update all my file checklist defaulted to embedded. Any feedback on this would be great. Quote

That is an intentional change, i think. It was defaulting to Embedded, even with an Image Placement Policy of Linked, and I think they decided to remove it. However, I think it was supposed to simply obey the policy, rather than still defaulting to Embedded I've recreated what you reported, and I agree that using Replace from the Context Toolbar or from the Resource Manager always ends up with Embedded, It should, of course, follow the policy for the document. 2 hours ago, Ranpo said: I also have image placement policy set to prefer linked, but I noticed after the update all my file checklist defaulted to embedded. Are you saying that you created your own custom Presets for File > New with "Prefer Linked" and now they're showing "Prefer Embedded"? I'm not seeing that, at least with Presets I create in 1.10. i don't have any from 1.9 to test with. However, from memory, the built-in Presets were defaulting to "Prefer Embedded" before. Ranpo Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 aa no worries, hopefully there will be a tweak for this, a minut problem but something that would be great to have back. 22 hours ago, walt.farrell said: Are you saying that you created your own custom Presets for File > New with "Prefer Linked" and now they're showing "Prefer Embedded"?
