John Rostron
Hello @Nikonshooter, and welcome to the forums. Affinity Photo will provide all you need for processing your macro photos. In particular, there are the sharpening tools: Unsharp Mask and Clarity, and the Focus Stacking (or Focus Merging tools. I will see if I can dig out a few examples for you with what I recollect of the procedures I used. I'm not convinced that presets would be all that relevant here. smadell
I’ve attached a recent photo merge done with Affinity Photo. I bought a Nikon Z7 II this past September, and have taken advantage of its Focus Merge feature quite a bit. The photo below is a merge of about 100 images. Needless to say, I am quite satisfied. j3rry, sfriedberg, Sechmet and 1 other 4 Quote Affinity Photo 2, Affinity Publisher 2, Affinity Designer 2 (latest retail versions) - desktop & iPad Culling - FastRawViewer; Raw Developer - Capture One Pro; Asset Management - Photo Supreme Mac Studio with M2 Max (2023}; 64 GB RAM; macOS 13 (Ventura); Mac Studio Display - iPad Air 4th Gen; iPadOS

Ron P.
Here's a sample insect macro I shot using a Canon 70D with a Sigma 150-600mm. Yes those long lenses can be used for close-up/macro. Anyway I just done a quick develop on the RAW image using AP. I was a user of the LR/PS bundle for a few years, until they discontinued the perpetual LR version. So I jumped ship to Affinity. I still have and use LR 6, mainly for organization. The closeup/macro using that lens, was because I had watched a video by B&H Event Space, where Arthur Morris and Denise Ippolito done a seminar. In it Arthur shows macro/closeup images he shot using a 600mm prime lens. Quote Affinity Photo 2.4..; Affinity Designer 2.4..; Affinity Publisher 2.4..; Affinity2 Beta versions. Nikonshooter
That Sigma 150-600mm is certainly an impressive set of glass, love that image very impressive, software wise I am leaning towards AP will play with the trial a bit longer before I make my decision Thank you.👍
John Rostron
Here is a close-up/macro image of a Scarlet Pimpernel flower taken on Alderney. The flower itself was approximately one centimetre across. The only post processing was some sharpening using the Unsharp Mask. John Ron P. and Nikonshooter 2 Quote Windows 11, Affinity Photo 2.4.2 Designer 2.4.2 and Publisher 2.4.2 (mainly Photo). Chosen Idea
I've been pretty happy with it for some of my macro work, although I haven't done any focus stacking yet (looking forward to it). Be warned Affinity Photo is not the tool for batch processing RAW files. I'm doing that in Capture One. I used the unsharp mask tool, and a curves adjustment on this fruit fly.
