ASR Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Helo guys, I have an Affinity Designer account previously registered in Windows 10 Home Single League and I changed it to Windows 10 Pro. afterwards affinity won't open after updating to version 1.9.2. What is the problem if I change the Windows version or does the latest Affinity version have a bug? Quote
carl123 Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 When you say it does not run... What exactly happens? E.g. do you get the "Splash" screen and it closes after that, or something else? I presume you meant to type ‘Single Language’, not ‘Single League’. What was the language? Is Windows 10 Pro installed as an upgrade or a fresh install, or is it on a different computer? Komatös Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Hello @ASR and welcome to the forums. If the Designer does not open, renaming the profile folder might help. Press Windows key + R. Copy or write %appdata%\affinity\designer in the input line and click OK. There is a log.txt in the 1.0 folder. Please attach this file to your next post. Rename the folder 1.0 to e.g. 1.0_old. This way, downloaded and self-created assets and other elements are preserved and can be copied back. Restart the Designer. A new profile folder is created. If this does not help, a complete reset of the installation might help. To do this, hold down CTRL when starting Designer. walt.farrell Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 From your log.txt file I suspect you have an error in your AMD GPU driver. Possibly this one, from the "known issues" list in the FAQ: That gives instructions for downgrading the driver to a level that does not have the issue, and some instructions for turning off OpenCL Hardware Acceleration in your Affinity application. You could also use this helper application to turn it off: Sean P 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
