I'm having some issues with layer masking on the Photo Persona of Affinity Publisher 1.9.2.1035. I've an image clipped to a text layer and added a layer mask. Painting on the layer mask with a black brush works perfectly fine, but if I switch to white it won't work! I opened the AFPUB on AP and it works perfectly fine. I've attached the AFPUB and a screen-recording of the issue. I'm on Win 10 Home.

Works normal for me. Maybe turning off hardware acceleration in Preferences >> Perfomance can help in your case?

You're right! Seems like hardware acceleration was the culprit here.

Glad to hear this. Just weird, that it works for me even with HWA on. What graphic card are you using and more important, are all drivers up-to-date?

NVIDIA GeForce 940M and Intel HD Graphics 520. Drivers are up-to-date. But, HW was enabled on Intel Graphics.

This might be a dumb question as I'm not experienced with graphics card and stuff; is it possible to enable HW on my NVIDIA card?

Would it be possible to get a copy of the log.txt file found here :- "%AppData%\Affinity\Publisher\1.0\Log.txt"

if you could grab it just after doing the mask operations shown above please

@Pauls Here's the log as requested.

You could try udating the driver for the intel graphics or even disabling it in device manager and seeingif that cures the problem.

Driver is up-to-date. Disabling the Intel Graphics didn't solve the issue. I've attached the log.

There are more entries in the options bar after the lock. In your case, Protect Transparency is probably ticked

You're great! That was it. Thank you @Joachim_L @Komatös

Actually, it's the first time I'm seeing these options as they were hidden behind that little symbol » 😀

Meanwhile, is there anyway to get it moved to the front of the context toolbar?

No, depends on the size of the window. I am using 24" monitors, means I have no problem. I am not sure if increasing Windows screen resolution might help.

The screen size is not the decisive factor, but mainly the screen resolution. It does not matter whether a content is displayed on 10 inches at e. g. 1920x1080 or on 32 inches.
On a 10 inch screen you might have to use a magnifying glass and on a 32 inch screen you might have to sit further away. But the image information that is displayed is always the same.

And yes, the window size matter ... a little bit too. :P
