Virus in 1.9.1 download

When I try to download the 1.9.1 update my Bitdefender anti-virus stops the download because it finds Gen:Variant.Mikey.119369 virus.  It successfully disinfects and quarantines it.  I have tried twice, same result both times.

I checked this file with virustotal.com and only one engine find a virus. This might be a false positive.

Hey chriskno, welcome to the Affinity Forums.

As long as you've downloaded the file directly from us then there's nothing to worry about. I think that refering to an 'unknown' application and Bitdefender is just flagging it.

Just to add to this thread - I am also getting the Bit Defender anti-virus alert when trying to download 1.9.1. in Windows 10 Pro...  Will trust that this is OK as I'm downloading from Affinity.

Same issue with me. Purchased Publisher and can't download it - Bitdefender flags up same message  . What is going on?

Here you can see only one engine detects as malware, and it's not the bitdefender engine.

So I presume it's safe to disable Bitdefender, download and install the files, and then re-enable Bitdefender?

Yes, but have a look here and decide if you need a third party programme that might have security holes.

I wanted to say that it is not necessary to use an extra anti-virus program, as Windows already provides a reliable anti-virus solution with Microsoft Defender.
