chriskno
When I try to download the 1.9.1 update my Bitdefender anti-virus stops the download because it finds Gen:Variant.Mikey.119369 virus. It successfully disinfects and quarantines it. I have tried twice, same result both times. PaulAffinity
Komatös
I checked this file with virustotal.com and only one engine find a virus. This might be a false positive. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/1b5420f586e995b01ab7b9dbcd20b6ebc2b1a4b0f473ca2e07eb02a0990f02b9/detection Quote AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | INTEL Arc A770 LE 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (22631.3296) AMD A10-9600P | dGPU R7 M340 (2 GB) | 8 GB DDR4 2133 MHz | Windows 10 Home 22H2 (1945.3803) Affinity Suite V 2.4 & Beta 2.(latest) Better translations with: https://www.deepl.com/translator Interested in a robust (selfhosted) PDF Solution? Staff Chris B Posted March 29, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 29, 2021 Hey chriskno, welcome to the Affinity Forums. As long as you've downloaded the file directly from us then there's nothing to worry about. I think that refering to an 'unknown' application and Bitdefender is just flagging it. mail.2020
Hi All. Just to add to this thread - I am also getting the Bit Defender anti-virus alert when trying to download 1.9.1. in Windows 10 Pro... Will trust that this is OK as I'm downloading from Affinity. Len *** More details on the message Bit Defender is showing, if that helps in any way. ___________________________________ Successfully blocked infected file 2 minutes ago Feature: Antivirus The file C:\Users\lenot\Downloads\b0ce0f9c-ff9c-4c15-a469-39b5d46e57ef.tmp is infected with Gen:Variant.Mikey.119369. Komatös
Here you can see only one engine detects as malware, and it's not the bitdefender engine. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/f28c946a602f0abb11c0cd4dd12fff0e1c4d76a3e28ffe2de46abb04996c3bbe/detection Quote AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | INTEL Arc A770 LE 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (22631.3296) AMD A10-9600P | dGPU R7 M340 (2 GB) | 8 GB DDR4 2133 MHz | Windows 10 Home 22H2 (1945.3803) Affinity Suite V 2.4 & Beta 2.(latest) Better translations with: https://www.deepl.com/translator Interested in a robust (selfhosted) PDF Solution? Marc Cornelius
So I presume it's safe to disable Bitdefender, download and install the files, and then re-enable Bitdefender?
Komatös
Yes, but have a look here and decide if you need a third party programme that might have security holes. Marc Cornelius
Not quite sure what you mean by that comment Komatös.
Komatös
I wanted to say that it is not necessary to use an extra anti-virus program, as Windows already provides a reliable anti-virus solution with Microsoft Defender.
