walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. Before backing off to an earlier version, there are a few things to check. First, please confirm what release of Designer you're running. Both 1.9.0 and 1.9.1 were released recently. Next, if you look at Preferences, Performance, you'll find a Hardware Acceleration option near the bottom of the list. Do you have it enabled? If so, try disabling it, and see if the problems are gone after you restart. Also, you might take a look at the list of known issues with 3rd-party applications, and if you're running any of them try the remediations that are suggested there: Sean P 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.4.1, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.4.
Staff Sean P Posted March 8, 2021 Staff Share Posted March 8, 2021 Hi Road, If you're still having issues, is it limited to a specific document or does it happen on a brand new one? If so could you attach the offending document. Also are you able to get any screenshots that show the issues you're seeing please to help us know the exact steps you're taking. JCEyre
I'm also having crashing issues with Affinity Designer - 1.9.1.979 - on a Windows 10 laptop. The crashing happens on every file, whether or not it is new. It happens randomly. Examples: I open a file and try to zoom in using a mouse scroller. Crash. I edit text in a text field. Crash. I move an object. Crash. I can't see any pattern at all. It doesn't happen every time I open a file and try to scroll in, or every time I do anything. I'm still able to work, but way too slowly. The previous version was very stable. I may go back.
pruus
Are your files on en extern drive or cloud? Perhaps there is a delay in acquiring the file? That could cause the crash, perhaps…

This is common problem on Windows.
