SteveRoberts
I've created a vector design in Affinity Designer using an imported .EPS. The design has lots of black, but I want to output the file as a PNG with black being transparent (will be printing on black shirt). So, I want all colors except black in the final output. How may I best accomplish this?
GarryP
The best solution will probably depend on how your document is constructed. For example, which parts are EPS, which are native (Affinity) vectors and which are raster? If you are not sure then you could let us see part of your Layers Panel showing a good range of layers and we can try to figure it out for ourselves. Edit: One very quick method - for a pure raster image with this sort of design - in Designer (not Photo, which is better at this sort of thing), would be: go to the Pixel Persona; choose menu "Select -> Tonal Range -> Shadows"; press the DELETE key; choose menu "Select -> Deselect". However, this doesn't remove the black completely; see attached image where I have put a yellow rectangle behind the manipulated image. I'm sure there are better ways but, as I said earlier, the best way depends on your document. Edited February 10, 2021 by GarryP Added extra note. thatGuy
you can use an overlay with erase blend mode and adjusted blend ranges here, might need some tweaking in rasterized areas though: 2021-02-10 15-21-59.mp4

Unfortunately, neither solution posted worked for me in making the "black" transparent in my image. To clarify, the imported .EPS was 100% vector, no raster, as were all of the additions within Affinity Designer. Happy to provide more info or the subject file if that would be helpful. Uploading your AD file here (with embedded EPS) would help. I'm pretty sure a RIP for garment printing will be able to handle this. That's a good idea. I'm using Zazzle. I will ask them.
