ronnyb Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I am working with a 65 MB AD file, it has an embedded AP file with 1 adjustment layer and two live filter layers, and some simple vector objects with some FX and opacity etc. Nothing very complex really, but when I'm working with the file I'll get the fan kicking in at high gear and screen redraw slow down considerably. So I popped open Activity Monitor to see how much of the CPU % AD was taking up... Low and behold I got some insane CPU percentages, like over 10,000%!!! I wish I had a centi-core macbook pro from 2011, lol... But seriously, is that dangerous for the CPU? I'd hate to fry my laptop  Here's the screen grab: 2021 16” Macbook Pro w/ M1 Max 10c cpu /24c gpu, 32 GB RAM, 1TB SSD, macOS Sequoia 15.1 2018 11" iPad Pro w/ A12X cpu/gpu, 256 GB, iPadOS 18.1
Staff Callum Posted September 18, 2015 Staff Posted September 18, 2015 Hi Ronnyb, Please could you attach the file to this post or send the file directly to support@seriflabs.com with a brief description of your issue so that we can investigate this further? Rocketdrive Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Hey there, I just had a similar slow-down. From one moment to the next the app became unusable - dragging points or objects took seconds, on-screen rendering took also some seconds for individual frames. Restarting AD does not resolve the problem. I'll restart my laptop and report back in a minute. CPU wasn't that high (only up to 300%).
Rocketdrive Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Restarting the mac didn't help either. So I looked at the file again – It was a text on a circle. After converting the text to curves AD is as speedy as usual.
Staff MEB Posted October 6, 2015 Staff Posted October 6, 2015 Hi Rocketdrive, Do you still have a copy or older version of the file displaying the performance issues? Can you attach it here so we can check out what's going on? Thanks. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Rocketdrive Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Hey MEB, I should have thought of that – no sorry, I needed to go forward quickly and saved over the "bad" file. And one more thing – I'm on regular AD version 1.3.5, didn't see that this topic was for a beta version. I'll keep an eye open, if the problem occurs again I'll make sure You get a copy of the file.
