tersmuse
macOS 10.15.7 Catalina Publisher macOS 1.8.6 I have downloaded and installed Affinity Publisher, macOS version 1.8.6, several times from my Affinity Account (not AppStore). After installation I start Publisher and get the following message: "Affinity Publisher.app" is damaged and cannot be opened. It is recommended to move the item to the trash. I just have to confirm, then Publisher will land in the trash. If I don't confirm, I will receive the message. What's going wrong?
Staff Callum Posted December 2, 2020 Staff Share Posted December 2, 2020 Hi Tersmuse Please could you try starting the app with the CTRL key held down and if the reset menu appears hit select all and then clear? If this doesn't work please could you try step 4 from the below link. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. tersmuse
I have deleted Publisher with App Cleaner. After uninstalling, I restarted macOS. Then I downloaded the app once again, and installed it clean. And yes, it works!!! @Callum CTRL key start function didn't work.

I have been researching them, and it appears there are several with almost identical names. A few apparently install malware instead of cleaning. I don’t want to end with a major headache! Thank you. tersmuse
I use AppCleaner from FreeMacSoft. It is free, I use it for many macOS generations. freemacsoft.net/appcleaner jmwellborn
Bad_Wolf
When I try to upgrade from 1.8.5 to 1.8.6 it is asking to fix or uninstall. I choose fix after which the installer is fixing. However, when I try to use Publisher it crashes after placing an Artistic text and type its contents. Without a warning, Publisher closes unexpectedly. I will wait until the 1.9 version.
