Photo on iPad Snapping Geometry and Construction snapping

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

is there a way to completely turn off any snapping in photo on the iPad.

every time I use the pen tool is snaps, I go down to the pen menu and there I can turn off Geometry And Construction snapping.

but the next time it is turned on again.

Is there a way to permanently turn off all these snapping, tried everything allready.

see photo

Hi @HenkBrwr,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

You'll need to disable these Snapping settings from the Context Menu for the Pen Tool, then save these changes to the tool so that each time you use the tool, you don't need to deselect these options.

Please see my below screen recording showing this process -

I hope this helps!

Sorry, after closing the program and restarting back on again.

I'm not seeing this behaviour here - does this happen only for one document?

If you create a new, blank document, then set your snapping to off and Save your Defaults for the tool - then restart the app and re-open this blank document (or create a new one). Are your snapping options still off? If you then re-open the original document, do the snapping options change again?

Many thanks :)

Closed the program,

restarted the program,

opened a new document,

turned off snapping in the pen tools,

closed the document,

reopened it and snapping was still off.

closed the program,

reopened the program and opened  the document again and snapping is turned on again

Played around a little bit more.

i didn’t draw in the first test and maybe also not the other tests.

now I opende the empty document turned off snapping saved and started drawing then closed it.

closing and reopening now looks like it stays off.

let me test it a little bit more

When set to the ‘Off’ position, should the ‘Enable snapping’ toggle on the Snapping screen override the Context toolbar options? :/

As far as I'm aware, these are independent Snapping options that aren't affecting by the others setting.

Having 'Enable Snapping' set to Off in the snapping options will turn off snapping for objects when transforming etc, however certain tools still have their own settings when in use, such as the Pen Tool.

The same behaviour can be found on Desktop and I believe this is by design :)
