ashf Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Is there a way to use certain angle to snap on rotate other than every 15 degrees? only three axis can be used on Grid and Snapping Axis setting so this can't be used. DmitryG 1 Quote
firstdefence Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 There is no way to change the 15º snap using the shift key, although that would be a nice feature. You can however use the transform panel to rotate an object. You can also rotate the object around any of the 9 anchor points on the anchor point selector on the transform panel. You can apply all of this to duplicates to make some cool designs, you can also use the transform origin to rotate around. https://affinity.help/photo/English.lproj/pages/Panels/transformPanel.html https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/designer/desktop/video/301620265/ ashf 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... GarryP Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 To add a litte to what firstdefence said above, if you want to rotate lots of layers in the same way by using the Transform Panel (or otherwise) you can select them all and use the Transform Objects Separately feature (it’s a button on the Context Toolbar), see attached short video. P.S. I agree that being able to change the 15 degree snap value in the Preferences would be a useful thing. 2020-04-09 08-52-54.mp4 DmitryG and ashf 2 Quote
R C-R Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 4 hours ago, firstdefence said: You can also rotate the object around any of the 9 anchor points on the anchor point selector on the transform panel. And also around any arbitrary point inside or outside the document boundaries by clicking the Enable Transform Origin button on the context toolbar & dragging the origin icon (looks like a circle with a cross in it) to wherever you want. The Transform panel also accepts expressions so it is possible to enter "R:" values like 360/11 to rotate to angles that can't be entered accurately any other way. ashf 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.5.7 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7
ashf Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 Thank you guys. I know I can do with transform panel manually. I asking this for someone who switched from Inkscape. He creates documentation of paper crafts that requires to set curves/objects to certain angle a lot. Inkscape has this. DmitryG 1 Quote
Rcoopr Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Yea I am going to chime in. This is basic functionality / usability. It's a real set back not to have this. Cyrisus and DmitryG 2 Quote
