Hey guys, So I'm wanting to create my own textures for 3d objects and I was wondering, is there a way in which I can take a photo and turn it into 3d texture maps for my 3d objects? (Pics below of what they look like)

If you mean creating 3D height maps from photos, I don't think there is any way to do that in AP.

No there isn't any method except by creating the different maps by hand, e.g. starting with the diffuse map, then applying a desaturation by using the HSL- or Black&white-Adjustment and then tweak them further with levels and/or curves for bump- shinnines- reflection-maps and so on.

FWIW, Filter Forge 9  (currently on sale for 80% off) is capable of creating diffuse, bump, specular, normal and other maps for many of the textures it creates.

Do Photoshop plugins work in Affinity Photo?

Some do, Filter forge 9 definitely does, so does Jixipix, and Nik Collection.

Well, I may be a bit slow but I have learned that I can use bump maps created in FF9 with the AP Lighting filter to create some interesting quasi-3D effects, like this:

The bump map was created from a variant of the Bricks Version 01 filter saved as a png file & loaded as a bump map into the live Lighting filter. Since it is a live filter, it can be tweaked nondestructively to create many different variations.

The zip file includes the brick bump.png file & the Wall art.afphoto for anyone with AP to play with.
