Christopher O'Toole Posted April 7, 2020 Posted April 7, 2020 Hey guys, So I'm wanting to create my own textures for 3d objects and I was wondering, is there a way in which I can take a photo and turn it into 3d texture maps for my 3d objects? (Pics below of what they look like) Quote
R C-R Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 If you mean creating 3D height maps from photos, I don't think there is any way to do that in AP. Ray S. Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 No there isn't any method except by creating the different maps by hand, e.g. starting with the diffuse map, then applying a desaturation by using the HSL- or Black&white-Adjustment and then tweak them further with levels and/or curves for bump- shinnines- reflection-maps and so on. R C-R Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 FWIW, Filter Forge 9 (currently on sale for 80% off) is capable of creating diffuse, bump, specular, normal and other maps for many of the textures it creates. PixelPest Posted April 8, 2020 Posted April 8, 2020 I still use CrazyBump for this. Or if you want a beautiful macOS app: PBRtist. Quote

Since it is a live filter, it can be tweaked nondestructively to create many different variations. The zip file includes the brick bump.png file & the Wall art.afphoto for anyone with AP to play with. wall art effect.zip Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.5.7 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 All 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7
