I always add a 200px or 10-20% black border on all my photos before exporting to social media but for some reason when I record it on macro and click on the macro it seems to resize from the previous image's canvas size ...  Is this a missing feature/bug or is there a better way ?

What I do is:

- Document > resize canvas > click on height and input "+200" next to the value  > click on the middle anchor

- create new black layer and arrange it to go behind all layers

- copy-paste my website address at the bottom black border

Image with border should look like this:

This was the subject of a recent posting. Unfortunately, there is no way to record resizing the Canvas (or Document) in a macro without the new sizes being fixed into the macro. The linked thread made various suggestions, but I do not think that there is a definitive solution.

The macro facility is in dire need of a rework, too many limitations on function.

What about creating a template file/s with borders already set that you can place edited images into?

the problem is my canvas sizes vary from landscape to portraiture and if I use panoramas the sizing will be different too, that's too many templates I'm afraid

The attached macro will add a black 200px border at the top and bottom of a portrait or landscape image (up to 7500px in height). Not tested on a panoramic image but no reason it should not work there also.

The macro can also be used in a batch job to process multiple files at once, if need be.
