Scot Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 I am using Affinity to sketch out a 3-D box with pipe running around it. Initially I have set my "Grid & Axis" manager to the "1cm square w/ 1mm Divisions" which produces the grid shown in attached image 1. When I go to a new layer the grid changes which I originally thought was just a visual change, but it appears that the settings actually change too (see attached image 2) I tend to use a lot of layers for drawings like this because it makes it easier to organize different groups of lines and shapes but I really don't want to have to go into these settings for every layer. Is it possible to have the base settings apply to all or to create a new layer with these grid settings in place? Quote
Old Bruce Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 I am not seeing this on Designer on Mac OS 10.12.6 My grid settings are for the document, each layer and each Artboard is showing the same grid. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

GarryP Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 I assume, because of the cube grid options and the window buttons, that you are using Designer on OS X. (We can help better when we know for sure.) In general (though there are some exceptions in the Affinity applications) Layers, in and of themselves, cannot have grids applied to them but you can apply different grids to different Artboards in Designer. If you create a new Artboard then, as far as I know, it will have the default grid. You can set the grid for each Artboard to be different to the others. If you want a new artboard to have the same grid as an existing one, without having to do the set-up again, then you can duplicate the existing artboard and remove all of the layers from the duplicate. Every Artboards can have a specific grid settings. Edit: individual artboards can be placed in the same position (eg after copying). Scot Posted March 18, 2020 Author Posted March 18, 2020 Thanks everyone for your responses. I realized that I had a misunderstanding of the relationship between a layer and an artboard because I am coming from InDesign. Reading through your input help me see what was wrong. shaLtai Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 Don't want to create duplicate post. How could I set same grid settings for all artboards in my document? I try to select all artboards but changes affect only one. I know I can duplicate artboard. But what to do if I work with existing document with 20-40 artboards? And may be someone know how to rearrange artboards? Thank you in advance! Quote

Unfortunately you will have to manually select each Artboard and apply the required grid to it, currently there's no way of applying a bulk grid update to multiple Artboards AFAIK, my apologies. You can click and drag on the name of the Artboard on the Pasteboard to rearrange them to anywhere you'd like - Quote
