Hey JuanFra,

In 1.8, Affinity Photo and Designer became Windows Ink apps so we now recommend enabling it in your Wacom Preferences. However, we have now decided to make Windows Ink a toggle option in our preferences in the beta which can be found here:

Please be aware that this is a beta and you should work on a copy of your files if you wish to use it.

Why did Affinity make it Windows Ink app?... Windows ink is the worst thing for anyone who wants to use a pen tablet/display. This was a HUGE downgrade. I have been working as an illustrator for 10 years, and the problems with Windows Ink were never solved. Unitl today you have to create a PSUserConfig file for Photoshop to work without the horrible Windows Ink system...Try to pick a color from the color wheel - oh you have to move the pen a few kilometers before it recognizes - Try to draw a line - oh you have to move the pen a few kilometers before it recognizes - Try to drag anything - oh you have to move the pen a few kilometers before it recognizes... It is just unusable. And before anyone says anything, I already disabled pen and touch gestures and bla bla... Wndows Ink is the most useless thing in the universe.

First time I used Affinity Designer I was very happy that a new software did not use Windows Ink and had pressure working just fine. I could do my sketches in pixel persona, go back to designer to create vector shapes and go to pixel once again to add textures with THE POWER OF PRESSURE SENSITIVITY WITHOUT DISTRACTIONS... all in one software. Now I can't use pressure. I won't use Windows Ink. It will make my brain bleed.

So I am going back to previous version. I don't want to use unstable beta. I mean, even you guys realized that some people (99% of the world) would not like to use windows ink and made an option in the preferences to turn it off. I will wait for it to come in a new release.

Affinity apps are awsome! But what is most special about it is how FLUID IT FEELS. I canceled my adobe subscription in december because of Affinity. Specially Affinity Designer really replaces the need of Illustrator. For me, it is way better. And this FLUIDITY is one of the most important things about it. It is sooo important for the way I make my illustrations in Affinity. Windows Ink just kills it.

Sorry for being annoying... I just really like Affinity Designer and I know you guys do amazing job on it. Are you guys going to release a patch update soon??

Thanks!!

I too have spotted the same problem with Wacom devices, but interestingly if you use a Surface Pro or similar device, their pens aren't affected in the same way, despite using Windows Ink. There is an option to disable Windows Ink in 1.8.1.
