Select + Alt

I often use Select + Ctrl to duplicate an item.

I'm finding that if use Select + Alt with the intention of ignoring snapping, I'm also getting a duplicate.

A bug?

Are you using right alt? alt right is ctrl+alt.

A quick answer because I'm just on my way out.

Select using the left mouse button.
Press and hold the Alt key.
Drag.

Both is possible. The Ctrl key has the advantage that you can choose (by releasing the key) between copy and move.

It's no great problem, just something I've not noticed before.

The following sequence creates a duplicate:

Select > Alt > drag.

The following sequence doesn't (but does ignore snapping):

Select > Drag > Alt.

This is By Design - holding Alt prior to a drag will allow you to duplicate an object.
