What is the best way to import text that has italics, bolds, or underlines.

If I do a copy & paste from word or wherever, the italics, etc are rpeserved, but so is the source's font and line spacing. If I apply the correct style to my imported text, then it clobbers and removes all italics, etc and I have to go through the source doc and affinity dock, manually highlighting and italicizing (or bolding) the text to get it to match, which requires a lit of time. Is there a better way to get that text into affinity publisher?

This is an issue for me too. I import text from Google Docs and it would help me a lot if I could preserve bold and italics. Like you when I change to the body text style both are removed.

Sorry, I find these explanations rather confusing. Is there a simple answer to this question:

When I change a font by assigning a new style to a paragraph, I lose all the italics. Is there any way to change styles without losing italics?

Use either of these. Right Click or Control Click on the little 'hamburger' menu in the Text Styles panel.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
