I want to buy a drawing from Shutterstock. It's black scribbles on a white background. I don't want the white background. I want to either color the background or remove the drawing itself and place it elsewhere. Is this possible? How? Or where do I go to get the explanation? I don't even know what this process is called. The drawing is attached.

I'm sure there is a simple answer to this stupid question. How do I put a background color on a page? (And where in the Help document is this explained? Nothing under Pages or Background or Fill or Color.)

Sorry, I find these explanations rather confusing. Is there a simple answer to this question: When I change a font by assigning a new style to a paragraph, I lose all the italics. Is there any way to change styles without losing italics?

Thanks, Bruce. I'm increasingly sorry I got into this app. It's so powerful yet so frustrating. Now another problem. Superscript. I'm having to manually insert all my footnotes. I make them superscript, I select the number, then hit Superscript in the Typography panel. But sometimes—most of the time, but not all the time!—one digit of a two-digit number gossiper, the other doesn't/t. Or t hey both do, but one is smaller than the other or raised higher than the other. Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong?

3 questions: 1. Is it possible for team members to make comments on a Publisher doc?. 2. I don't suppose footnotes are a possibility yet? 3. When I pasted a long Mac Pages doc into a new Publisher doc, all the italics disappeared. Is there any way to avoid that?

I need to place photos into a Publisher doc. The photos have to be at least 300 dpi. The jpg photos are in large proportions -- 50" wide -- but apparently only 72 dpi. (I determine this, perhaps erroneously, by opening the photo in Designer and going to Document Setup.) I'm on a Mac. So how do I get a 300 dpi image into the Publisher doc? Do I reduce the dimensions (to, say 7") and increase the dpi to 300 in Designer, then export to jpg, then drag and drop? Or is it better to just drag and drop the great-big image right into Publisher and then reduce it? Or what? And should I export the Design doc to jpg or just leave it as .afdesign and drop it into the Publisher doc? Or what?

Ah, OK.It was set to 400. I changed it to 300, and size was preserved. Thank you! But another question: If I resize the photo in publisher, how does that affect dpi? I mean, if I reduce it to, say, 7x7", does the dpi change proportionately?

I opened a photo in Designer. According to Document Setup, it is 300 dpi and 8x8 inches. But when I drag it to a Publisher document, it is 6x6". So: 1. Is there a way to keep the same size? 2. If I enlarge the 6x6" to 8x8" in Publisher, will the dpi drop below 300? (I need to maintain at least 300 dpi.)

I don't know if I have the same problem. On a Mac, I want to draw a marquee around a circle. I can see how to do this if I know the precise center of the circle, but I don't. How do i get the circle marquee to fit the circle I want to copy?

Same thing happened to me. Pages panel disappeared. View > Studio menu does not show a pages option. I tried resetting the studio. Nothing happened. How do I get my pages panel back?

Note that hitting the delete/backspace button deletes text but not line breaks.

I often want to delete line breaks. But simply back-spacing doesn't do it. I can't backspace through a line break. Is this normal or a defect or am I doing it wrong? (I can use the mouse to select one or more line breaks and then erase them. I just can't backspace to eliminate them.)

Done. I think I more or less copied it. Yes, more or less. When I paste the image, or try to, I get just a small part of what I selected. Isn't this explained somewhere? Under "help" or youtube or something? I'm sure this is an easy process. I just don't know what to call it or where to look.

It's a jpg in Designer.

I have a jpg image of a doll drawn on a white paper. I want to select the doll without the white background and copy it and paste it into a document in Affinity Publisher. How do I do that? I can't find anything in the Help document or videos. I've figured out how to select the image, but how do I copy it? "Copy" is not an option in the Edit menu.

OK, so no footnotes or endnotes in Publisher. Could maybe the company gives us an idea if or when this essential feature might be added? I have a book ready to go, but it has over 400 notes.

What? Really? No footnotes or endnotes? I can't believe it. That inexplicable shortcoming renders this app all but useless for me.
