  1. First of all: Love the new features, especially the isometric grid, cant wait to use them seriously! Usually i work on my laptop and have an open browser to google stuff. I noticed that the panning/zooming drops in performance significantly when i switch back to my Affinity Designer Window (artboard). After restarting Designer it works ok for a while, but it always comes down to opening a browser window, switching back to Designer, zoom in/out - no animation or it does not zoom properly. If i want to pan - then i would need to use the navigation bar even though Space + drag is so convenient when using a tablet. In the past it was a non-issue, so i really don't know if it's my hardware. I used to do Vector/Pixel-based Artwork and Designer handled everything fluently. I panned and zoomed like crazy Now i struggle with simple Logo-Designs Could it be that Designer has become a bit resource-hungry since the update? Or is it me? Can i do something about it? My laptops' specs: i7-6700HQ 2.6GHz 16GB RAM Intel HD Graphics 530 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M (i switch them up sometimes) Wacom drivers are up to date (intuos pro)
  2. Hey everyone! Here is a recording I made with Affinity Designer 1.7 on iPad mini 5, iOS 12.2, visualizing touches set to true, showing the gestures fail a lot: https://www.shushustorm.com/_Uploads/Serif/iOS/1_7/PinchNotWorking.mp4 This shows the input itself does in fact get recognized. The gestures mostly fail when using thumb and index finger, but will mostly work when using index finger and middle finger. After some testing, I can say this is true for both Affinity products as well as for Procreate. Since the visualization shows that the input is indeed recognized, could there be an issue with iOS rejecting input because of palm rejection issues? Unfortunately, for me, persistently using index and middle finger is not an option. It's very inconventient. Best wishes, Shu EDIT: Also, I posted here about this as well: And again, the topics about this on the Procreate forums:https://procreate.art/discussions/4/10/27407https://procreate.art/discussions/4/10/28314
  3. In the desktop edition, you can pan a zoomed image by moving the indicator rectangle in the navigator. Why doesn't this work in the iPad edition, where it would be more useful?
  4. Is it possible to set a default view or default zoom value. I like to do most of my work at a zoom level which displays full page width. Can I set some preference so that the template I would start from, or the document I create, will default to that zoom level?
  5. Zoom + Ctrl++ seems to be more logical compared to Ctrl+= . Ctrl++ already works but is not mentionned. Great job and very intuitive application.
  6. Hi, I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I couldn't find it from a quick search. Basically, zooming in and out with the mouse wheel you'd expect the zoom levels to snap to 100% and logical numbers (like 5%, 10% or 25% differences etc) but sometimes the zoom level goes to things like 96% instead of 100% forcing me to have to change the zoom value manually to 100 again. I'm on the latest stable version of Affinity photo. I can't be the only one irritated by this inconsistency. I know it sounds minor but it's super annoying. It seems to only be with mouse wheel while right clicking and clicking zoom in/zoom out use decent values. I looked in preferences but couldn't find anything related to it. EDIT; attached an image of what I mean, just some screenshots showing the kind of zoom values you get from using the mouse wheel. The most annoying part is you may not even be using the zoom tool at the time meaning you have to switch to the zoom tool just to set it back to a decent value like 100%. The blurryness in the photo is because I took the second screenshot while cropping the first so you can see how it looks when the zoom isn't perfect.
  7. Just a few days ago all of the keyboard zoom controls (hot keys, shortcuts) just stopped in Affinity Photo. Despite running a repair, and a complete uninstall and reinstall they still do not work. However those do work in Affinity Designer and Publisher. All programs are latest versions. System is Win 7 Ultimate with all latest updates. Is it possible there is a fix for this? Could this have something to do with the recent MS .Net Framework update?
  8. I would like to be able to click on a control on the toolbar to adjust the zoom factor for the document I'm working on. I know that I can go to View>Zoom> and pick on, or use the shortcut keys to change the zoom, but it would be nice to have a control that allows a single click and select (and that shows the zoom factor). So if I picked 200%, the face of the control would show that was my zoom factor.
  9. Make the View/Zoom menu more robust and flexible. Compare the zoom menu from Gimp app and Affinity Photo Beta app below. Notice that the Gimp app allows for 16+ possibilities for zooming in and out including the ability to set custom zoom factors. I would like to see these features in the Affinity suite of applications. https://www.gimp.org/
  11. Windows 10 Home 1809, Designer I've just noticed the following problem: * Open Designer on my main monitor, basic HD, nothing fancy (scale at 100%); * Create a new document and put a 2 inch square on it; * Zoom to 100%; * Measure square, it's 2 inches square - as expected; * Move Designer window to laptop display, basic HD, just whatever came built-in (scale 125%); * Measure square, it's now close to 1 and 6/8ths of an inch square - not great, but easily fixed; * Zoom to 100%; * Measure square, it's 2 inches square again - as expected; * Move Designer window back to main monitor; * Measure square, it's now just under 2 and a half inches square - but we should be able to fix that; * Zoom to 100% and... oh dear, that's wrong; * Measure square, it's now just under 3 and 1/8ths of an inch - some thing has gone wrong somewhere. And no amount of re-zooming, minimising the application, or anything else I have tried will fix it, it stays looking too big until I re-launch the application. Just saving the document, closing it, and then re-loading it doesn't fix the problem, I've got to bounce Designer entirely. Designer is set to use the built-in - default - Intel GPU.

    SLOWWW Zoom

Zooming with the Brush tool selected — in a tiny 726 KB file — is super slow on the latest beta. If I switch to the arrow tool everything is normal. I'm using a Magic Mouse and the option key in conjunction with the scroll gesture to zoom.
  13. Hello Everyone, Well, i maybe missing something but i can't Zoom in and Out on ADesigner since the last beta install. Tried to reset stuffs in there but nothing does... Well it is something i use a lot on projects ... like i said maybe i'm missing something here on how to get it working again. 14. The three finger tap to control redo conflicts with ipad's zoom feature. How do you reset either the zoom feature controls in ipad settings or change it in affinity??? Right now when I 3 finger tap the zoom loupe overlays the screen and it is in the way.
  15. Windows 10, Build 178. When I switch personas - doesn't seem to matter between which ones - the document zooms in a little. See attached GIF.
  16. In Adobe you hold Cmd Space to temporarily access the zoom function. This is a tool I use all the time, it is so useful not to have to come out of a text box, hit Z, zoom, and then go back to the text. Zoom to selection helps a bit but isn't the same. Any chance of a key combo for "temporary" access to the zoom?
  17. Find a demonstration in the video attached. When I drag the Affinity Designer window from my laptop's monitor to an external monitor and then zoom or resize the window, the displayed elements and wireframes desynchronize. The visual display is not where it is supposed to be. I remember having this on Windows as well. affinity-bug.mp4
  18. I have some kind of zoom/redraw bug in both Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo In Designer, I can create a new document A4, 300ppi. Draw a rectangle shape filled with black, and stretch it in all directions so that it snaps to the document bounds. Now if I zoom in and out with the scroll wheel, at various zoom levels the rectangle appears as if it does not quite meet the document bounds on random edges. For example the top and left sides appear to have a 1 pixel gap and are white or show the transparancy grid beneath. If I change the zoom level the edges with the 'gap' will sometimes be on the bottom or right and back to top and left. I have tried toggleing snap and pixel alignment on/off but it makes no difference. Also when I dragged the edges of the rectangle to snap to the document bounds, the green//red lines appeared, indicating that it was snapping to the document edges. A very similar problem exists in Affinity Photo - this time with a new blank canvas, choose File > Place. Select a relatively high resolution photo and drop it in the middle of the canvas. Now drag the edges and snap them to the document bounds. When I zoom in and out the "1 pixel" white/transparant edge randomly appears on various edges of the canvas at various zoom levels. Even at 100%. It makes it difficult to know if there is actually a 'gap' or not. In the screenshot below (Designer) you should be able to see the white 1 pixel 'gap' i am talking about. In the one below that (Photo) you can see the transparancy grid along the top edge. If I zoom in the gap is not there, but might be on the left edge instead. I have tried turning off the graphics card as the default renderer in Preferences > Performance. The only other option is WARP but it has the same problem.

    Move selection

Hi, I use every day this app on my iPad Pro and I love it but I have a problem: impossible to move little object with no zoom. The app auto select the anchor point the object and resize or distort object and I can’t move. Is it possible to disable the anchor point or reduce the auto-selection? in this video I can move only with zoom thanks 2CCF06F1-8F08-4AD7-AD4F-3564F3285E8D.MP4
  20. I'm wondering if using zoom keyboard shortcuts could zoom to selection. For example, I hit Command-0 to zoom out and see what my page looks like and then hit Command-2 or 3, etc. to zoom in, but what I had selected at the time is not in the center of the page, so it is out of view and I have scroll around to try to find it. Maybe there is another way to do this without the extra step of typing 'z', which won't work if I am in text editing mode.
  21. After the first zoom, the content is duplicated and changes position. The "ghost" objects starts to appear at the screen and the real ones disappears but it's still there. Affinity Designer v. 1.6.1 macOS High Sierra v. 10.13.6 Resolved I've installed an old version of Java for macOS 2107 and now I can't reproduce the bug. zoombug.mov
  22. Hi there, I've found an irritating display error (at least I think it is one): In Affinity Designer ( I've created a new document with three artboards and placed four images (*.afphoto) in it. Then I selected two of the images on the first artboard, copied (ctrl-c) and pasted (ctrl-v) them on the second artboard. Afterwards I selected one of the copied images and clicked "replace document" in the context menu. The recplacement did work, but the display did honour the replacement only at certain zoom levels. If I zoomed in to 100%, everythings looked fine and I could see the new image. The moment I zoomed out, I got the previous image displayed again. I could even repeat that: zoom in - new image, zoom out - previous image, zoom in - new image, zoom out - previous image. To be fair: Once I'd saved the document, closed and reopened it, everything went as supposed. Best, Volker
  23. In a document with multiple pages, shift-command-drag should zoom in on the marqueed area but instead zooms in on the pasteboard somewhere above page 1. Single page documents zoom in as expected. Using the Zoom Tool works as expected. [macos Sierra 10.12.6]
  24. I wished there was a way to increase the Zoom Factor for interactive Zooming of documents. As a long time Photoshop user I am heavily used to a far higher default Zoom multiplier in their Scrubby Zoom. In order to zoom in from 100 to 200% on a 800x800 px document one in PS only needs to move the mouse or the pen a few millimeters sideways – faster dragging even increases the enlargement speed. What might sound crazy indeed works extremely well (it’s Photoshop’s default scrubby zoom behaviour). And zooming and panning also looks nice, because motion doesn’t stop harshly: There’s a dash in of inertia (easing out) added as seemingly also the case in your Ipad apps. In Affinity apps for the same 800x800px document my hand needs to travel at least 3 times the distance, for every larger document (any RAW) one even needs to travel the input device a few times in a row (set the hand back to the starting point) and motion stops harshly as soon as one lets go. You certainly do not like reading this – but this all feels sluggish to me. Can Zoom and Pan get a speed boost and some polish please?
  25. Hi guys, thank you for reading this. I would ask you to consider a very smart and intuitive way to navigate the canvas. Illustrator (and also Photoshop with some minor difference) uses the modifier keys Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Space in combination to activate or deactivate certain tools. This solution is very useful and super fast because you do not need to move your fingers over the keyboards and you do not need to hit a key twice to activate/deactivate a tool, but with just 4 keys you can access to all the navigation tools, like pan, zoom, select, and so on. You probably already know what I'm referring about, but I'll add a list of the most common combos (please note that being a combo means also to hold them together while using the tool): Ctrl = Object Selection (or, if Object Selection is active, it triggers Element Selection) Ctrl + Space = Zoom In Ctrl + Space + Alt = Zoom Out Alt = Drag Copy (also after clicking for drag, atm it works just before) If you have to deal with conflicts among other shortcuts, like combos already used for other functions, please contact me and I'll be happy to deal with it. Finding the same interface as the most popular software would have many advantages: - reduce frustration and improve experience using the software - reduce adoption time - triggers interoperability between software (so you can use the same habits while switching from one sw to another...yes, someone still does) - uses a model already spread and tested, based on years of experience I totally understand that this is another software and it's normal to not expect to find the same stuff of the competitors, but this is not the kind of thing that makes AD positively different from its competitors (imho of course); making the transition from one software to another as smooth as possible for as many users as possible I think is more valuable. I and a bunch of other folks would really love to find these combos in the next updates. Thank you for your attention. p.s. dear reader of this topic, please, add here other combos that you would like to have in the future.
