Just a wild, crazy thought... why do paragraph and character have to be separate panels at all? Can't we have just one single, long panel with all text settings together. We could call it "Typography". If I'm editing text, I inevitably have both panels open at the same time anyway and it will remove some redundancy. Here's what I'm thinking: The same thing with colour and swatch panels. I also always have both of them open at the same time so they might as well be in the same panel like this... (Note the pull down menu for choosing different swatch display styles – small icon, big icon, list view etc. Just a little idea thrown in for good measure) Since your roadmap includes multiple fills and strokes, perhaps strokes & fills should also be crammed into 1 panel. I'm worried you're going to take Illustrator's approach to multiple fills & strokes... 1 panel for stroke 1 panel for fill 1 panel to list them to define which you have selected. and another panel for for effects, just for good measure?

Hi, A lot of times when I use the texttool Affinity Designer starts getting really slow and sometimes just stops responding. This almost always happens when I want to change the content of an existing text-object. Any fixes for this? -
Hello, I'm using my Designer beta copy for a work and played with the text tools. Things were going fine when I ended with a weird behavior lately. I don't know if I changed a setting somewhere but when I want to create a new text I get some unreadable characters... I almost see a line instead of each characters that I type (See the screenshot). If I copy/paste another text it seems to work but for the moment when I create a new one I've got this :( I saved my file and opened it in both the beta and the regular version of designer and it shows the same "bug". So it might not be a "display" problem... I posted here (in beta section) but it could be a bug in the main dev tree too... My mac is a Retina MBP 15 mid 2012 with Mac OS X 10.12.3 ! Before creating this post I tried to find similar discussion but it seems that there is none or I couldn't find it so any help would be welcome ;) Thanx

Hi; I've found an unexpected behaviour (unexpected for me, of course) when adding a text to a circle shape. I was trying to write the text all around the circle by outside, but instead when I've written half the text, it jumps down and to the inner part of the circle (see attached image). Is there any way to prevent this, a workaround, or I'm doing sthing wrong? Thanks in advance; Val

Hi Guys, so i am trying to create a macro to watermark my work. However when I want create the text, there is an error message "Macro recorder: Can not record: Graphiktext hinzufügen [adding graphic text]" (For now using affinity in German). Please, please help me, what am I doing wrong? -

Is there a way to resize text created with Text Frame Tool using the transform option? I know there is a way to manually resize the text using that outer lever...but I want the text to be specifically a certain size...and when I normally transform, it simply reflows the text. -
How do you resize text so it maintains its text location within a text box? It seems that when I resize the text some text jump from its original placement to an extra line and mess up the original layout. Using the transform tool, I am trying to proportionally resize page content...this contains text. It seems that the text size does not change, and messes up the layout. Is there a way to change this?

Newbie question, Is it possible to change the color of transparent background from the checkered grey to another color? When working with white fonts its difficult to see. Oh and another thing, how to select all the text on a background to change its color? -
So I have been using Affinity Designer for bout a month now and completely pleased with it. However there are a few things I have questions about. First is the font options. Is there was to add more fonts to designer? Also when I create a design and it has numbers and I print them off a lot of times the numbers print out with vertical and horizontal lines around them. How do I go about getting rid of that? Finally, I was wondering how i can cut and crop things outside of just squares? Love the program outside of these things I got questions about. If you search "rtl support" or "support arabic text" you'll find that it's a very old and frequently wished feature. So please add rtl support to AD or at least add it to your road map as it is a very basic feature. Affinity designer is called to be a UI design tool. But what is the use of it when one can not type and work with text an typography? Currently you can't work with persian, hebrew, arabic, urdu ... and all the rtl languages in AD and it's not even mentioned in the introduction of the app in the Appstore or in the website!

In Affinity Designer, Adding a text object to a newly created document creates the text render on the left side. Add a background (white or off-white, doesn't matter), and you get the text render on the right side. Not sure if this is a bug or if it can be changed with a setting. text-bug.afdesign

Please add support for rtl languages. you are showing it right in the layers panel, but in the Text Tool it's wrong. see the attachment.

Combining text with images is always a challenge. Most of the examples and work I see uses a destructive method and if sometimes it's not a big deal, others we need to do it all over again. Is this tutorial I show you how you can combine both in a non-destructive way. Hi, I've had Affinity for about a week now and as an /affordable/ piece of software, I am loving it. Also bringing back memories of work experience several years ago at Wilford industrial estate... ;) but anyway, on to the problem.... Having a little bit of trouble with the full justify option - it just doesn't do anything attractive for my layout at all. Expecting it to space out my words nicely stretching across the full width of the frame and instead it's just adding a massive gap between the last two in the text frame! Not sure if there are settings to correct this or if the tool simply doesn't work as expected. Can anyone clarify what's going on with this one? Thanks. -
or Is there a way to turn Text Frames into Artistic Text. I am trying to quickly resize the frame to the text. Thanks!

Hello i'm new to the forum and i want to know if i can add text to a 360 photo i still don't have the affinity photo App but I want to buy it; i'm gonna mostly use it for 360 photos and adding text to them, i saw how to add a logo, but i don't know if it is the same thing with the text, and if it's gonna look with the 360 shape or just flat? Hi guys, I'm using Affinity Photo for Windows and can't seem to find how to adjust the direction of a gradient stroke added to text, all I'm presented with is the attached? The Fill isn't a problem as that's controlled by clicking the Gradient icon. Thanks in advance Neil

Haven't posted here for a long while, but enjoyed doing some nesting this morning with a picture I took a while back of Paris Mountain in Anglesey. I used Designer for the page including fading out the background photo. Quick and easy.
